Default New Porsche 911 (991) Turbo S

I have been watching some Youtube reviews of this car, and I have to say that if my numbers came up I would be straight down the Porsche Dealer to place my order! Discuss.

Nah, a 4wd FI Porsche isn't great....
Fast as ****, but not interesting.

If my numbers came up it'd be the 991 GT3 RS!

If my numbers came up and it had to be a Porsche, I'd have the new GT3 rather than the Turbo.

I'd also have a GT3 RS 4.0 for special occasions

991 GT3 with clubsport pack for me!!!

Are Porsche doing a 991 GT3 RS or is it that if you want 4 seats and comfort have the normal GT3 and if you want a stripped out track weapon, tick the clubsport option(fire extinguisher, roll cage, carbon seats etc) Just wondering as this seems to be what a GT3 RS is?????

My father looked at the last of the 997 Turbos and we went out in it, I have to say it left us a little cold.

In the end the old bugger went for a mad Merc but if it is outright thrills you want I'd recommend a GT3 configuration they are exhilarating machines.

Lets just say, a day lapping Oulton Park in his RS made me realise just how clinical and mundane the turbos can be. (And they sound... zzzzzzzz)

To be honest, I pretty much knew after 4 months it wasn't the car for me....

You can't get 4 seats in a 991 GT3.

If the 991 RS is going to be like the 997, then wider track (wide bodied), plastic glass, different suspension...
Will be available next year.

Clubsport in a normal GT3 doesn't mean stripped out - it just gives you a roll cage, extinguisher and nomex upholstery!

Turbo doesn't do it for me so thats why i've ordered the GT3 and have a letter of intent in for an RS. Turbo is a mighty car but all a bit numb when compared to its RWD aspirated sibling....... although the 4 seats of the turbo come in handy for the kids!

Years ago I drove a 996 turbo tiptronic and it shattered my childhood dreams about this car as it was a complete let down.

A few years ago I drove a mate's manual 997 turbo and that felt much better, more agile, nimble and generally fun.

Having a look at the vids of the 991 Turbo S I have to say I'm with Butkus, if my numbers came up I'd be sat in one

Not tempted at all, nothing unique there that I value that highly, and it sounds dull in that video.

I was just thinking the same thing. 911's haven't done anything for me since the 80's.

Funnily enough I'm the opposite, they've grown on me over the years and I like them more and more.

Slightly odd types go on about the 993 being the last of the 'pure' Porsches. I drove a 993 many years ago and it was a horrid thing, I couldn't even get into a remotely comfortable driving position.

What do you mean by 'unique' John?

How many other cars can deliver that level of performance all day long, look nice, have a fantastic interior and you won't have your warranty invalidated by using the launch control?

Same ere want it soooooo bad
My mate has a 911997 b turbo with ceramic brakes etc
My scoob was 450/460 and felt nothing like this
Press sport mode and the car drops even closer to the rd
Wow going round and braking to roundabouts was like astronaut training ( I'd guess)
I'd kill for a new one

I don't have any issues with those Ding, hence why I wouldn't put £120k into changing.

Bearing in mind my old 996 turbo with the X50 factory upgrade was £113,000 new in 2003.

£150k+ for a much better, faster and more refined car isn't too bad, 10 years later.

Understood, I'm assuming you valued the resale price of the GTR as about £20k?

More interestingly how do you think the 991 turbo stacks up if you were comparing it to buying a new GTR? A new GTR is £76k and a new 'standard' 991 Turbo is £120k. How do you think the two would compare in performance terms?

All the car I'd ever need. But we'd have to get shot of the dog.

One day...

Was adding a bit more for options Ding.

The 991 is about 10% lighter than the R35 with similar power so would probably accelerate a little stronger, but acceleration is more than adequate in both standard, I've upgraded my old one to be similar to them and have no wish for more.

Didn't exactly get covered in praise during Evo Magazine test drive.

Think if I had £140k to spunk on a car, I'd get the GT3 and a second everyday car.

But..... the 911 Turbo is the best all rounder if it's your only car.

I suspect most owners of a new 911T may have another car or two. Or three...

Hahahahah I had one, well a 12 plate turbo S with a pdk box, box is crap, car is nice but not as quick as the scooby. Best daily driver super car on the planet !

There is now a 997 turbo drop head in the garage as well ! The difference between to 2 is huge, the S was by far a faster car

Probably because he's got a 666 bhp scooby, I think that will keep him smiling for a while yet.
