Importing BMW 330D
#1
Hi folks!
My other half is keen on the 330D saloon and I've suggested that she could get much more for her money.....even the Sport version....by importing. We need some advice from people in the know....
Warranty is only two years long
Is an import the same as the UK car?
Is servicing an issue or are BMW dealers obliged to cooperate?
Is resale liable to be a problem?
She intends to keep the car for some time, so I feel it makes sense to import and enjoy the saving.....but I'm no expert!
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

hi
i've just ordered a 330d Sport Touring via:
www.carimportsolutions.co.uk
So far the service has been excellent and the best price that i could find. I am making a saving of over £5K on UK list, i believe you can buy additional years BMW warranty for circa £399 pa and assume this can be applied to imports but worth checking out. The dealer can't refuse to service the car so all you have to contend with is attitude which i'm sure will vary dealer to dealer. With my previous import (Newage WRX) had no problems with dealers servicing the car. For resale and insurance purposes it is important that you order to UK spec which if you specify is what you will get. My car is UK spec (down to the warning triangle) 330D Sport Touring with CD player, Mats and sunroof options.
hope this helps

I've got a 330Ci which was originally brought in from Germany as a personal import (though not by me). Just had its first service at 14,000 miles and the dealership I used - Whitehouse - had no problem at all with servicing it and were very helpful and efficient.
