Thanks ditchmyster
This motor make me feel a 'bit of a flash bastid' to be honest
The 997S is a bit of a goal for me and it lives up to my expectations

Don't worry about it, with a car like that you have earned the right

The car looks amazing.... such clean unfussy lines (a pity Subaru didn't take a look at that aspect of it before releasing one of the fussiest designs ever in the hatch STI).

Great colour too. Nice one ....

Thanks f1.
I agree with your comments re the 'clean, unfussy lines'.
It is incredibly unfussy and I think that's what will make the 997 a classic in future years.
It drives incredibly well. Loads of grunt, rides really well, traction is outstanding and build quality.....it feels like it's cast from a billet of metal.
I still miss my JDM STI...a little bit

Yes I think you're right... that and it has performance to match its undeniable looks.

Put up a few more pics when you get time please

I'm pleased for you buddy, it's nice when you get something you always wanted and it turns out to be all you imagined and more, as opposed to the usual anti-climax after the initial buzz wears off

It's good to know too as a 911 is on my bucket list.

That is gorgeous i sold my Blob to get a 993 which i loved and it looked amazing, you certainly cannot deny that they are made by a company with a passion for driving cars and building cars meant to be driven if you know what i mean not to many safety aids ..enjoy as they are a breed apart from most cars and i would have another in a heartbeat

Absolutely love it mate

I'd be interested in your opinion on this. Many people on Porsche forums insist the Cayman (and Boxster) are more fun to drive than a modern 911. I've never driven a Cayman/Boxster and have only ever had a little time in a 997 and 991.

You've now owned both cars, what's your take on this?

And once again well done, loving the 911

Thanks for your comments.
Which is more fun. The Cayman S is a lot of fun, no doubt.
The Carrera S is even more fun and in a more grown up way. Adult fun. lols
Seriously, if fun was my only requirement I would still have the 997.
But it's got so much more to offer than the Cayman imho.

Nice car

Interested to see how it compares to the CS.

I've got a Carrera 4 and love it to bits.

That car looks lovely mate. Well done. I really like 911's in Meteor Grey.

Forget what people think. It's how you feel when driving it.

Lovely. I need to own a 911 at some stage; maybe in a couple if cars time.

Great colour, best model (that is vaguely sensible money.)

Let us know how you get on with it!

911's are fun, just not 4wd turbo ones.

C2S about as pure a modern 911 as you can get, nice one Coolio!

But let's not forget - the very first Porsche car that held the badge was a mid engined one, like the Boxster/Cayman.

Beautiful.

I never "got" Porsches especially more modern ones until I hit my late 20's, they never really seemed special enough. Now I understand though.

I don't get Porsches and I'm 23. I have no idea why but I've just never understood them.... maybe I will when I'm older but for now I literally can't tell the difference between any of them. I'm sure the one in this thread is an awesome machine but to me it just looks like another plain Porsche.

Tbh, I didn't "get" it until my mid/late 30's......styling wise anyway.
Even in cooking format, they throw out 300+ bhp....certainly onto be sniffed at.

But what really impressed me was the handling. They way they change direction considering the old technology (compared to the likes of the GTR etc), and grip is astounding.

Not a car for everybody, but that's fine by me

Gratuitous shot of mine

Op, stunning motor indeed fella, I love all the porches, would love to be in the position to buy a 996 turbo one day

My bro has a 964 which he seems to enjoy throwing money at

Lad I was working for recently let me take his courtesy car out for a blast after work, it was wierd as there was no drama but it was fast and just kinda worked

I didn't get Porsches either until I got older
Also, like Clarkson, I thought all 911s looked alike
However, since I matured (physically if not so much mentally ) I started to appreciate the 911 shape. My brother in law has a 1986 964 Carrera Supersport and I think it's a fab looking car. I think that's what sparked my interest some years ago.
When the 997 was released I immediately loved the shape/design as it is uncluttered and I think is a classic Porsche design.
I know many don't like the 'same-ness' of the 911. I like the continuity of the look when coupled with remarkable improvements under the skin.
