Wink Ignition off ~ headlights ON. Nissan Almera question.

Just got a tidy Nissan Almera 5 door 1999 as a runabout.
Noticed that the headlights stay on when the ignition is switched off and foresee a flat battery at some point. Is it possible to 'fiddle' with the lighting electrics so that the lights go off when the ignition is off, I would use an auto electrician to do it !
A simple or complicated jobbie ?

Cheers

It can be done but its not a ten minute job. You would need to rewire the lighting circuit feed to only work with the ignition on but you would then lose parking lights. So, you would then need to wire up a separate switch and feed for the parking lights.

There should be a buzzer that sounds when the lights are left on and the drivers door is open. This is to remind you to switch off your lights. Does this not work? It might be much easier to replace this (if its not working) than rewire the lighting system.

It may just have been unplugged. You will fund it if you remove the lower dash trim on the drivers side. It should be mounted just below the steering column.
