Picked up this Clio today...
2003 Clio 172 Phase 1.
£1300, done 100k lol. Seems to run pretty good, needs a bit of a clean inside but nothing torn.
Some sort of stainless cat back (not too loud) and some non-OEM shocks and springs.
Surprisingly rapid.
Cable throttle so just goes.
Non of this VAG half second delay.

These old 172's are cheap as chips now.
Dunno about cup packs? I think they came later? This phase 1 was the lightest I think?

I don't really chuck cars about on the road but it did seem quite nippy, and all the feedback is very mechanical in contrast to the EP3 which had very little feel through the wheel. The engine feels cammed up for mid range too, in contrast the EP3 is all in the higher rev range, although I reckon the EP3 is faster in a straight line.

I hear you busta, but at £1300 quid when he's done with it he can just sling it in the bin.
All the other cars he's been looking at are £6k+ and theres nowt to stop him getting one sometime soon.
Give us a shout tony if you want rid in 6 months or so, or maybe a swap involving my blob wagon.

Yeah well those cars are several times more expensive. It's a bit of a gamble but if it lets go majorly I've only lost just over a grand. Plus I've not owned one so its a box to tick.

Fair enough. I just thought for the budget you had to spend on a car you chose one of them as a daily drive maybe?
But I can agree with the fun factor, just depends on how your going to use it I suppose,
As rich says you can just despose it when your done without loosing owt, pass it onto rich for £1500 when your done lol

I was gonna buy a phase 2 a while back with rear quarter dented in a bit for £700 unrecorded, slap a few bob and track it, but then changed my mind, and the driving position of French cars is not my cuppa tea tbh along with the reliability.
Have fun, maybe you and GAYallen can full fat each other

is yours the v6 or the 172? I might be up for it if yours is all working ok, but you won't be getting it with the AP 4 pots, they're going on the type r.
