Default Golf r32 390bhp supercharged

1 of my friends is going to look at buying the above on Saturday, I'm just wondering for my self how fast this would this be, I can blitz his standard r32 in my scoob, isn't the 4motion on these crap at standard power let alone the extra power on this. Thanks

If your running standard or near to standard then he will hand you your *** if its a genuine 390bhp as he will have a broader band of torque/power than you.

No doubt he will be quicker and have more power than me, golf is costing 10k but he can't drive so no doubt it'll be a right off soon like the rx7 he had

No, the 4wd system in the r32 is Haldex and is very different to the 4motion which comes with the v5 4motion Golf and Bora. The standard Haldex can handle alot of power so will easily put down 390bhp

I presume for 10k it's a mk4?

53 plate mate, does looks standard from outside its very nice tho, and being supercharged would have no lag, any 0-60 1/4 mile times you would think from that car?

std car is 240bhp, the reason they are slow is they weigh about 1600kg!

my mkiv r32 has 290bhp and it is completely different to my scoob in both handling and power delivery.

R32 is instant power, especially with a supercharger, haldex system is part time 4 wheel drive, only engaging rear wheels when required under acceleration etc using a variety of sensors. Hopefully the supercharged one will have had a blue performance haldex upgrade as this makes them handle a lot better.

Do you know what supercharger it is? Becareful of people claiming these have that amount of power as some of the kits only produce 330 to 350bhp.

I have been in a 475bhp r32 and I can say that is rather rapid. that sort of power is about the limit of the standard gearbox, haldex units are fine at that power. There are some 550bhp odd ones out there but gearboxes don't tend to last long.

if you can pm me the reg or part of the reg or some other details, I can probably dig some history up on the car as I have been in the R32oc for a few years now, and you tend to know most of the forced induction ones.

Good to see it has the half leather seats too. The full leather seats are pants and sag badly!

That's what I'm thinking, like u said for 10k it's still a heavy hatch, and it will never sound as good as a scooby

I had an rx7 and thought it handled great, so your saying as well that the one in the ad has been a right off?

Cracking motors though, can see 500 odd bhp and rwd could be fun

Not a write off, but it was put in a ditch and repaired, it was so light it swearved all over the place at 100mph+, engine mint tho, more a track car I'd say in terms of speed and noise, he had 2 notices from the council about the exhaust noise being 2 loud lol

I think 390bhp seems about right for the spec, vf engineering claim it will make 350bhp on 93RON fuel and a regular intercooler so shouldn't be far off. Although as we all know it depends on the mapping

Looks a nice car tbh. Ali-B knows a good bit about these, he'd be able to shed some light on the likelihood of the power figure being right.

Have you ever heard a vr6 engine on full chat?? sorry but I've owned both, (still own a scoob) and the vr6 hands down wins in the aural delight department!!

And the vf superchargers are good but I thought people preferred the rotrex chargers these days ?

£480 tax band I think
10k is reasonable money for it, I remember a few 'charged R32's popping up for sale in my previous VAG days and they fetched silly money.

2003 not ithat tax band as they are capped on earlier years, so not a problem.

stage 2 vf charger is 350bhp, that with miltek downpipes, schrick cams and custom map might start to get near the figure quoted though i'd say 370 maybe a bit more unless i saw a dyno plot.

most people are starting to use rotrex based kits as a few people have had problems with the oil seals on the vf's and the rotrexs seem to be delivering more power. though with rotrexs you need to use a compression spacer plate or lower comp pistons.

i have 3 dr version of above car, same colour and same interior, few people think its the cheaper interior, i disagree as middle is alcantara.

3 drs are more sought after, and £10k is a lot of money, but if car is mint and runs well then hard to put price on it. i'd personally look at other cars at that price.

best bet is to test drive and decide, but i would also drive a std one to compare, as std cars are about £6k now.

as for sound, a r32 with decatted miltek exhaust wins hands down in my view, unless you have some anti lag and big boost scooby.

Cars built in 2003 are taxed according to CO2 emissions, what do you mean by capped?

cars emitting over 225g/km and first registered between 1 March 2001 and 23 March 2006 are currently capped at band k which is £280 per year.

I used to think like that but prefer 5 door hatches now. The 2 doors on the 3 door are too big IMHO, aesthetically speaking.
