Default Nissan 350 buying tips...

Hi all,

So this missus decided last night out the blue she wants a 350Z, well actually the 370Z but she hasn't got that much to play with.

Anyone had one before who could shed some light on the good, bad points of buying one? Other than checking the usual FSH and visual inspection along with a test drive of course.

Never heard any problems with them, and am of the understanding that the V6 is pretty built proof if taken care off. I've also seen one or two JDM models which came with fitted sat nav and reverse cameras but they tend to command a higher price. She doesn't want to spend more than 6.5k really so looking at a 54 reg with 50k on the clock.

Cheers chaps

I've had one for the last 18 months.

Check out this forum - specifically this post for a buyers guide;

There's also some good examples for sale over there too.

Cheers, had a good read of that the other day. Can't find the for sale section, do you need to be a member to see it?

I've had a 370Z. Really nice cars. Gruff engine, but really powerful and lots of Torque. SycroRev gearbox is awsome. Strong brakes. I quite miss that car, and not many around.

As for the 350Z? I nearly bought one from new years ago, but at the time, went for the STI.

Gear lever can vibrate a lot, but they all do that, so don't be worried.

I tested one before I got an R32 Golf. Really fun car but bloody heavy for a 2 seater and for some reason, 2nd to 3rd was incredibly notchy on the 2k mile demonstrator.

Great noise, poise and pace.

Good solid cars worked on plenty nothing really goes wrong with them. On very rare occasions they suffer from 5th and 6th gear syncros probs also if you hear a clicking from the rear drive shafts on pulling away that's normal just need drive shaft splines greasing apart from that all good.

Its Japanese so should be relatively hassle free. Heavy on fuel though from what I hear.

I had one for a couple of years back in 06. Twas a 2 yr old example with 14k on clock. Very good brakes - sold with 34k on clock on original brake pads!
Great for drifting around damp roundabouts and fairly quick.

However, service intervals were every 9k or 9 months which I found barmy for a fairly large NA engine. Parts expensive too.
Try £600 for a replacement backbox!! Iirc my backbox went at around 26k miles..

Otherwise they're worth running for a couple of years. I got bored of mine pretty quickly and I don't usually tire of performance cars.

Love the car... Just can understand the door handles, look like IKEA make and fit them
