Fiesta tdci or corsa cdti

Fiesta tdci or corsa cdti
For the missus really, undecided by the two cars
Wanting to get her a new small run around, anybody have any experiences with the two.
Must be
5 door practicality
A-C road tax band for cheap running costs and only seems to be the new diesels
So is it the corsa 1.3cdti, there are limited edition ones that look like vxrs with the kit on and black wheels, black roof in white etc, just worried it looks a bit chavvy in the long run
Or fiesta 1.6 tdci titanium?
What would you choose or other(s)
£10k budget

I'd go for a Fiesta. I test drove both in 1.6 petrol, and then chose the Fiesta Zetec-S (120ps petrol). The Fiesta had a much nicer ride, felt so much more comfortable and the build quality was so much better than the Corsa.
I only kept the Fiesta for 3 years, and traded it in with only 16k on the clock, simply as I needed a large estate, but I still miss it now. Such a lovely car for it's size.
I can't comment on the diesel performance, but the Fiesta was the one for me.
Additionally, the Fiesta has only just got it's mid-life face lift, whereas the current shape Corsa has been out longer, so will most likely be updated to a new model sooner.

My other half has had her clio for years, no problems. Sails through the MOT, only ever had service and tyres. My mates fiesta on the other hand, has had lots of faults. Only from personal/friends experience, I'd have the corsa over the fiesta if it has to be those 2.

Then there's the drivability, driving position bit wierd positioning, drove a new shape Clio and didn't like the drive tbh.
The new fiestas and corsas I havnt drove but after reading reviews the fiesta seems to have a good drivability,(which is important for me as I will drive it time to time).
Tried looking at other super minis and there's nowt else really that ticks mine and wife's boxes as in looks and drivability.

Fiat 500? Or is it a bit too small? There really nice cars, just like go karts. Twin air is free tax and they are peanuts to insure. Plus the twin air with the turbo off will easily give high 60's mpg, and with the turbo 0-60 is about 9.5 secs. If you get a kitted model with leather they are very nice!

5dr practicality for baby seat, (not quite) and they look horrible bar the abrath model, needs to be a medium size super mini (too small)
Would like a jap or German car but finding a nice looking 5 dr, cheap tax bracket and good mpg is non that we like.

Should have read your initial post
Skoda Fabia, they do a 1.4 and 1.6 TDCi, German build. No idea about reviews on the diesel engine though but I would imagine they are reliable. Again tax is going to be £20-£30, only trouble is their looks.....yuck.....unless its a VRS!
Just trying to name every diesel car now

Yep Fabia is a no go, although the engine a build is good but looks is absolutely rubbish in mine/wife's opinion.
Only other would be a new polo, but the model I would get is the SEL model and I think they are a bit overpriced for the badge, and maybe cabin room a bit too low

Corsa looks better but the 1.3 cdti engines are crap and so are the turbos on them (renound for going bang) fiestas aren't as good looking but better engine so all depends on what you want more looks or reliability

Some Polo models are a bit overpriced but you know you're getting reliability.
Going back to Fiat, what about the Punto? Though I don't think they do a diesel engine, just a 1.3 and the twin air as well

Fiat engine is the same one as in the corsa (1.3 cdti) so no brainer avoiding it.
German + small diesel = avoid also, horrid coarse engines and they really have not figured out how to make the dpf's work well on them, plus its far from the best engine out there.
Clio 1.5 dci = very good, its in the nissans as well so worth looking at
Ford tdci is a ford/psa effort and it really isnt a bad engine, the 1.4 is the one to give a miss to really as the 1.6 is nearly as economical and much nicer to drive

I'd go for the Fiesta out of those two, but how come you haven't looked at an Ibiza?

Better car than either of your choices IMHO......
