Hi there, no real problems with modding..only problem is to know when to stop modding!, an uprated IC, induction kit and boost controller can see you up to 370/390 BHP on the right ecu. Stock cars are dyno'd at around 300/320 BHP. The quoted figures of 280 are a wee bit low.

Good luck but make sure you get a good one as they can be expensive if you get a major problem!

Haven't heard about the #6 piston thing, but I guess that if you run any turbocharged car on sustained boost it has the potential to damage it. I believe that Scoobys have had one or two probs like this!

As Ian said, the problem is knowing when to stop tuning! My R33 V-Spec is standard and is fairly quick. However, I'd love to de-cat, ECU, boost controller it etc. It's just finding the cash that is the main problem.

R32's are slightly lighter and more raw than an R33 or R34, and also a good deal cheaper. Just make sure you bag a good one at the start and you should be fine. They are less tempremental than Subarus, but will cost more if they fail. Always rung on SUL or optimax, and enjoy it.

The only other thing I'd suggest is changing oil, filter and air filter every 3,000 miles, and plugs, fuel filter every 6,000. IMHO the recommended service intervals on the plugs and fuel filter are too far apart.

Cheers
Matt

The 32 is a very raw car, it also has dated looks in comparison to (INMHO) the 33 and the 34.

They are cheaper and have the same tuning potential as the others as the RB 26 engine remains basically the same in the 32,33 and 34 its gear box's that differ.

There are some cheap 33's out there, if you have the money to tart them up, but get it looked over or guaranteed from the Skyline tuner that has done all the mods/servicing.

Thumbs up

£20K to spend ??

Then you will get a good example with some mods. 96-98 V Spec sub 30K miles.

The Vspec has a slightly harder ride but the Torque transfer system is slightly quicker to kick in than the non V Spec (claimed 1/1000th second).

I have a 97 V spec and paid £20K for mine, came with Greddy boost controller, A pillar Greddy boost guage, special ARC air box, decat'd exhaust system and was in very good condition.
