Mitsubishi 3000Gt
Hi all
I do not know why, but Ive got a urge to buy a Mitsubishi 3000gt. I know they are very 90's, but if you get an inch, best scratch it.
So, anyone here had one ?? I only want a uk model, 96/7 or 98 model. I know they are manuals only, but I love the look, 4WD and goodies.
Who's had one ?? Issues, problems ?? Not interested in comments about other cars being better, just need some real previous owner advice / problems.

I came very close to buying an import twin turbo model a few years ago, couldn't get insured as was too young at the time.
There are issues with weak gearboxes which are expensive to rebuild.
Also the exhaust had a system where if I remember correctly it had 4 tailpipes but two opened automatically at certain speeds, that also could go wrong.
Don't know if same applies to the model you would be looking at.
There are a few owners clubs to ask.

I had a gto and loved it will get another one some time I done 30k and never had any problems with it. Try to find one with aftermarket exhaust and suspension on as they are stupidly expensive to replace. Don't bother with a non turbo boringly slow

I used to work on them at the dealers & they were a nightmare. Fast & fun to drive but we hat loads of problems with gear boxes, engines & electronics mainly. They are expensive to repair & not easy to work on. If you really want one then I'd say buy the cleanest low miler you can with extensive history, & good luck.

Hi mate i use to own a white 3000GT before getting the scooby i loved the car, however being a 1992 and 20years it did have a few issues, but just needed updating i.e brakes, new cambelt, the car i had 109k miles if you get the 3000GT, thats the uk spec with the uk number plate + sunroof, or the GTO which is without the sunroof and import squared plate, just becareful because alot of people who are traders get it wrong look on this forum for information http://www.gtouk.org.uk/returnforum.html its a very useful forum thats what i used to get my information from, or even this site which is good aswell http://www.gtooc.org/forum/ also they are a headache to work on, but depending area your from the best garage to use is Eurospec-2000 they specialise in GTO's and 3000GT, im using my phone at the moment but later ill post some pics up, but i did love my 3000GT i didn't tune it just maintained it and the main issues with those cars are mainly transfor boxes, gearboxes, and engine but thats only buy one thats hasn't had anywork done on it at all, majority owners on the forums have maintained there cars quite well, so best looking at one on the forum if your going get one! Don't bother with the automatic one, as they slow and boring to drive and only run at 200bhp on quite a heavy car! Go for the twin turbo the uk spec ones usually come with 13T turbo's whilst the GTO import come with smaller turbo' 5 speed gearboxes
