Chris, do you have any info on these?
I've contacted Vauxhall via their website and they said "No plans to release it this year...."
I want one now! (but without the 'y' fronts)

Good question
Evo magazine tests the VX220 sprint and looks at the options
quote - vx220 sprint represents the most that can be squeezed out of the vx unitl the rumoured turbo version breezes in, that is
end quote
So I don't know - I have heard no more - There are a large number of elise drivers going to the Hethel Factory this weekend
I will ask them to ask the lotus guys whats happening !
will post answers next week
Have a good one.

still rumoured for september - but no one would confirm this !
lots of people think the lotus and vauxhall partneship is pretty sour at the moment. but there is an engine available so I don't know.
Lots of trade mags think this is a nailed on certainty - but no one at lotus was prepared to comment (not surprisingly)
cheers

200bhp for VX220
The VX220 Turbo will be launched early next year and it looks set to make the Elise 190 seem a bit limp-wristed.
The car will use the 1.8-litre turbocharged engine already seen in the Zafira GSi and Astra SRi but with power increased from 189bhp to 200bhp and torque climbing to over 190lb ft. Performance should be scintillating - expect a 0-60 time of well under five seconds and a top speed limited to 150mph.
Project Tornado (as the car is codenamed within Lotus and Vauxhall) has had difficulties with engine cooling, while convincing the Opel board that there is a market for such an extreme sports car wasn't easy either, but it's now been signed off for production.
If you want to bag one of the 300-400 cars to be built per year, you'll need to find somewhere around £26,000.
Despite the huge leap in power the VX220 requires only a few subtle aerodynamic aids and uprated brakes to complete its transformation into the supercar-scaring Turbo. In-keeping with the VX220's back-to-basics formula, there will be no traction or stability control.
The mighty engine is sure to be the biggest test yet for the Elise/VX220 chassis but we've got a feeling that it'll be huge fun. Place your order now.

It was 875kg already. The turbo version has increased by 45kg, of which the engine IIRC is 25kg, and the rest is extra sound deadening, central locking etc.
Go for the Sprint version if they make it........360 Modena eater according to Autocar

Whats the point in this? Can GM not get the idea of a "striped out racer"? It'll have in car navigation and climate control before long! Once again they have the potential then **** it away.

It is a Vauxhall but what other smallish, rwd, mid engine, turbocharged alternatives are there for about £25K?
Old MR2 import?
Supercharged S1 Elise?
All cars can go bang, at least being a Vauxhall it should be cheap to fix, esp under warranty
Apart from the silly --v-- badge I quite like the way it looks!
And I don't see as many of them as I do S2 Elises.
It will be used as a daily driver and will do a fair amount of motorway miles so a few more creature comforts might even be appreciated. I am nearly 30

Do they do a stripped out model? I was only aware of the one car, plus the desperation spec special editions - when they realised people prefer to have their Lotus' badged as a Lotus, and not a Vauxhall.
To this day I believe they should have kept the name from Europe - the Opel Speedster.

To quote from that link
"With a maximum torque of 250Nm at 1950rpm, and a weight of 920kg"
920kg?? Christ it's put on a bit of weight!! The current Elise S2 is only 750kg!
