Question

Just a quick question for all you vw/audi diesel drivers.

A colleague at work has been asked by his VW garage to have a pre-MOT test costing £170

Anyone heard of this ?

Cheers

Thumbs down

Never heard of this before

What could they do to warrant £170.00 for a pre MOT test??

Mind you they are main dealers = Allowed to charge what they like

I'm not an vw diesel driver but I have heard of pre MOT tests, been around for years all they do is a proper mot of your car and tell you what would pass/fail come real MOT time.

It is the sort of thing people would do if they thought that there may be some major job that could need doing, giving them more time than the normal couple of days to sort it out.

But like I said all they do is a MOT so what does that cost now £35? £170 seems a bit on the exspensive side for a MOT, does the testor use some special VW rubber gloves or something

Personally, I'd rather spend £35 on a real MOT, then if the work takes longer than the 7 days you get, spend another £35, that's a whole £100 saving

I reckon for £170 the mechanic must have to completely lube himself up with the help of the yts lad and then have a two hour tea brake.

Then take it down to the local mot centre at luchtime then rag it back to the garage.

Main dealers - fantastic

From the replies so far I'll tell me mate to just take it to an MOT testing station but I will ask him to ask the VW dealer exactly what was supposed to be done for £170

Cheers
