Default Advice needed on second car....... ;-)

Have got the need for a seven seater as my second car.

Currently running 06 WRX Hawk with one or 2 extra bits and an 04 plate audi avant tdi sport which is mint.

Fact is have 5 kids and its not fun going out in 2 different cars so going to chop the audi for a 7 seater.

Anyone any ideas or could shed some light.

Have looked at disco's, xc90's, galaxy etc etc ....

Any thoughts would be appreciated.... Hawk just not an every day driver now...

i have a ford galaxy 2.3..pretty good on fuel..had a pajero and discovery before..is pretty much up to what suits yourslef..i like all 3 but 4x4s bit big for the missus...

I always thought if I had to go this way I would have a zafira
2.0 turbo gsi. One of my mates had 1 a couple of years ago and I really liked it and he never had any problems. Quick for a 7 seater to

XC90 are nice.
Big, safe, fully loaded and don't look half bad for a big Volvo.

Zafira Vxr would be my choice if I had to go in that direction. I suspect the fuel would be as bad as the scooby though

We have a Mazda 5, not strictly a 7 seater, morelike a 6+1 as the centre rear is only big enough for a small bottom. The car is an excellent all rounder, although not what you'd need if you have 5 kids!!! You should maybe consider a small coach!

Good luck- it's a minefield.

Depends on your pockets mate but id grab a zaffy vxr.... good solid engine loads of power and fun but a great family car. Should get one for less then £8k now.... Nice for the wife to drive etc.... Petrol tho might not be your best friend tho

The Disco 3 and Ford C-Max are in bottom 10 for reliability/satisfaction for last year.
Mazda 5 suffer from too much front wheel camber and eat tyres, sliding doors have tendency to break and dpf problems on diesel model.
Have used 1st gen Zafira for work (1.6 petrol=underpowered), not bad-much better than the Astra it was based on, horrible gearbox and gearstick placed too far back for comfort, repositioned to dashboard on 2nd gen so should be better, diesels can be problematic.
Have driven my wifes business partners XC90 a lot, fantastic car might get one myself but early ones suffer from 4wd faults that can leave it with drive to front wheels only, and auto boxes can cause trouble.
For something you might feel more familiar with compared to your Audi, VW Touran.
Have one at work (1.9tdi), decent enough to drive and feels well built but had to have dual mass flywheel replaced and abs module (common fault). Both expensive trips to garage but has been ok ever since.

Had no issues with my c-max so far. As an all rounder it has been the best car and most reliable car I have ever owned. Also most value for money. Regularly achieving 50+mpg

But I do admit, I was looking at other manufactures until I found the ghia I have now which has most of the toys. In standard form they come with nothing.

Electric windows all round
Rear window blinds, these you pull up out of the door cards.
Front and rear Parking sensors
Full leather interior
Heated electric seats
Heated front screen
Rain sensing wipers
Auto headlights
Electric handbrake

Hasn't missed a beat so far. The rear seats roll right forward and tuck up behind te front seats giving massive boot space when needed.

re my post above yours, meant to say S-Max not C-Max, no sign of C-Max in bottom 10 reliability table but only have 5 seats.
