We all moan about petrol prices and that fact the scooby is not the most economical car to run !! just wonder how the focus rs compares ?? always remember when it was reviewed on tv the lovely Vicky said " if you have to ask about mpg figures then you cant afford it " when talking about the mountune - rs500 spec converted one !!

Quote - Single figure when booting it ??
explains why the green coloured one near to me very rarely moves off the drive !!
not being funny but realisticly there cant be many that can afford to drive a focus rs as a daily driver with these sort off figures, and yep at one stage counted seven off them within the town where I stay, strangely enough think that seven is down to just the two now and one off them is the one above that never moves from the guys driveway !!

My old Focus ST with and without dreamscience remap only managed 23mpg around town which with the 285-290bhp remap wont be that much difference to a RS (fuel wise)
I had a remapped Astra VXR which only managed 23-24mpg and the Golf ED30 i have now (standard) does 26-27mpg
It seems most hot hatches can only manage early 20s which seems poor these days as the old school XRs, etc (ok so they weren't as powerful) would do mid 30s

everyday driveing you would get22/ 24mpg and thats a mix of booting it
I followed my son one day for about 40 miles in his old slow 316 e30 and the RS did 35mpg wich is pretty amazing
great cars...mines gone now

Nice cars, but too expensive to run as a daily hack. Probably more like a weekend toy for most people.
Most make about 10-20bhp less than qouted but have an extra 10-20lb ft more than qouted.
Ive got a Ford mag where at a rolling road day one made 276bhp standard.
They look stunning, sound amazing and hold their money well but too many nidges put me off. Brakes from a Volvo XC90 Jeep, bland looking alloys (although Compo's look sexy), horrible engine bay, FWD and still weighs nearly 1.5t.

no
To be honest the next time it was RR it made 320 bhp But it was running on 95 ron at that time
and 390nm both times wich is nice

I get on average 24mpg, mixture of driving. Pretty much the same as what my Sti was getting. No performance car will be cheap to run but £260 a year to tax and £350 to insure for me isn't bad.
The XC90 brakes do a good job too unlike the Brembos on my STi!
Paul, still see your old car about the NE.

When I had my STI, it cost me £50 a week `just` to get to work and back. And that was when petrol was about £1.00 a litre.
My daily car now gets 35-40mpg. Even that looks cr.ap now. Considering a 140bhp Audi A1 TDI will do 69mpg on the combined cycle. (real world probably 55-60mpg)
But then, having a second car probably works out more expensive than just tanking up thirsty daily car.
Just tanked up the R8 this morning. Cost me £75.50 for 208 miles. For that in my other car, I'd be getting about 450 miles.
Fell out with them over my MK1 Focus RS.
