Yeah - one of the problems with the Volvo is that you can get a new one discounted almost to the price of one four years old at a dealer as they try and hold the prices up.
Older ones hold their value though.

I've been looking for a week or so at XC90s I'm aiming for a 2006 facelift D7 with the newer 185bhp engine.
The engine on the one I test drove sounded a bit rattley (apparrently normal) but it drove OK.....in a straight line. The cabin had a pleasant quirkiness to it and was pretty roomy.
On the forums the main concern is the 4wd failing but no warning to driver. This is less frequent in newer models.
There is talk of a replacement model to hit residuals but I cannot find any firm information.

i have to say Trout if it was me id have the Q7 also look great when Pimped.
Failing that X5 cos you just look rich in them.
I do like the Volvos but it just doesnt carry itsself as good as the other 2. failing that buy a fully loaded zafira Touring LOL the new shape.
i think that looks practical and rather nice,

The Volvo's are a bit agricultural next to the X5, I think.
A mate has just bought an XC90 brand new (not sure which model) from a main dealer.
List price was over £43k!
He got it for £32k.....
As I said before..... Mazda Bongo!

Personally I think some of these so called 7 seaters are death traps. All the ones I have seen have the last two seats right by the rear windscreen. There is very little protection for those passengers if involved in a rear end shunt. I wouldn't put my kids in those seats and therefore wouldn't put other peoples kids in those seats either.

+1 for X5, as long as you don't get a drug dealer one!
Out of curiosity, why such a negative view towards Q7's? Suddenly thought i haven't seen one for a very long while every since i noticed the above comment...

Just taken delivery of a new X5. Not gone with the 7 seats but just make sure you get one with the comfort seats, they are amazing.
The X5 has just had it's mid run refresh and the new X3 has been made to look like it so chances are it'll live for a while yet or any new version will be very similar.
The XC90 in comparison has been around a long time and in the engine dept falls well short.
The Q7 is a lovely car but falls short in terms of performance and emissions vs the BMW plus it is absoluetly huge (and won't go in my garage )

Well her indoors has negotiated a four year old X5 - full of toys from electric heated comfort seats, sat nav, media, rear camera, pimp glass, seven seats, etc. 3.0d - one of the best diesel engines in the world.
Nice grey colour - and a tow bar - mmmmmm, trailer and racing car methinks!

Yes, but that's why I wouldn't own a mini/supermini, (whatever a supermini is??)
They are for diddy passengers as you say but then diddy passengers are the most vulnerable.
