Default 2002 330d sport remapped

Just had my 330d sport taken from 184bhp/288lbft to 245/390lbft and it's like I've bought a new car!
I have owned the 330d for almost 2 years and do 600 miles a week in her and find myself most of the time with cruise set at 68 tootling down the m5 but lately after a bit of spirited driving I had to scratch the remap itch and it was well worth it
Standard wise the old 184 330d's are as fast as a corsa vxr, quicker over high speeds but now is alot of fun, still returning 44.8 mpg and the power coming in nice and smooth so unlike a remapped 150 diesel golf I owned which ate clutches for breakfast!
If Anybody wants to breathe a bit of life into these cracking motors you would do no worse than giving a guy called simon from Emaps a call, expert knowledge and well respected in the BMW mapping world.

Had my 330d done by Simon Coe from Upsolute. As said, A complete transformation and well worth it.

Also had a PD150 Golf. Simon mapped that to just over 200bhp. Clutch and flywheel gave up soon afterwards LOL. Went for a new flywheel and paddle clutch from Allard. Never a problem after in 70k miles.

Silly question but would it be worth doing to my 2001 330 ci m sport. Love the car just feel it lacks a punch if you get what I mean.

You wouldn't gain alot mapping a na 330ci, maybe a couple of more horses and a slight increase in torque, but power delivery would change so there are benefits to be had.
I have a manual saloon which luckily is the only engine out of all of the later older engines to not have the swirl flaps.
I do miss my old 150 golf proper quick for a diesel 2 but wheelspin everywhere used to annoy me hence selling for the bm which feels so much better to drive swiftly.

Seriously considering a 330d in the new year. An E46 6 speed manual with the 204HP motor. Have every intention of getting it mapped.

Do you only have the swirl flaps on autos? Don't want auto at all.

All e46 330d's from 1999 to 2006 have swirl flaps on the autos and manuals, APART from the manual m57 2962cc earlier 184 model which is what I have. In march 2003 the later m57n engines (2993, 204bhp) came out with the cars getting the 6 speed box mv2 alloys etc.
And a track day 330d? Bit heavy I reckon and bio fuel would kill the high pressure pump pretty sharpish

We have a £3000+ bill for a 2002 car that would suggest otherwise?

Anyone buying a 330d make sure you get the swirl flaps removed...Mine let go and caused some serious damage...Luck was on my side and I managed to repair it for less than a grand...I soon outed it and have now bought a 335d which is being remapped by Simon @ Emaps on Monday ....

Be warned I was and took no notice...

Are the 231ps 2006 engines affected. I heard they have the swirl flaps, but are good enough to leave in now?

Two answers then, either you cars been converted from auto to manual, or just a rare exception to the rule?? Does your logbook state 2962cc and manual transmission? Weird one.

The car was a company car bought new supplied by local dealer in late 2002. Sold in 2007. I will dig out the invoice for the remedial work if i can...

Thanks for that very interesting. So bmw deny there is a problem with the swirl flaps and then don't put them on the newer models. U can't beat r&d by the consumer it's free n they pay for it
