Kindly educate my old man.
#1
As some of you may or may not know, Myold man has just bought an Audi A3 1.8T. He is coming back to the UK soon and has made it clear that my cossie is being turfed out of the garage it has been nestling happily in for the past 2 years for his car. Obiviously I am not very happy with this so I am asking you for independent opinions to educate my old man on:
1/ which is the most nickable (sought after) car.
2/ Which is the appreciating asset.
3/ Which is the mas produced eurobox and which is THE supercar of the 1980s.
4/ Which is gonna rust faster!!!!
Please put aside the traditional dislike of the RS marque for a while so I present the old codger with some hard evidence!!!
Cheers,
astraboy.
P.S. Mods feel free to move if this offends.

Tell him you need to hide it in the garage coz your embarrased, and ashamed of it,he cant deny that!
Tell him it makes the front of the house look scruffy,if its left out
Tell him about the time you left it outside, and the bin men tried to take it away!
Sorry couldnt resist.......your turn

Go to www.CarSurfer.co.uk and Get him to read the Escort/Sapphire Cossie reviews in the 'Past Greats' section.
That is enough for him to see sense and keep your prize marque appreciating in the garage rather than his depreciating German cube-on-wheels!

Hate to say it, but if its his house and garage there's no arguement really, he can do as he likes. Otherwise if its your place, you can rightly tell him to get stuffed.

Unfortunatly, it is his place Thats why I need to educate him rather than tell him. it would make things a whole lot easier if I could get him to "see the light" as it were.

P.S. LOL @ Binmen comment.

The only reason you are able to afford and run the Cossie is probably because you are still living with daddy. Therefore a little respect wouldn't go amiss. Time to start thinking of the ramifications of owning both your own gaff and running a highly nickable car.
That YTS wage only stretches so far young man!!!! ;D LOL.

Not the situation at all. I am not living with my parents, I am looking after their house for them. There is a difference.
I am also NOT on a YTS scheme either.

My apologies Astraboy. Sorry i was so quick to judge you.
Still your dads garage though.
AUDI - 1 COSSIE - 0
You could always challenge him to a 1/4 mile drag, winner gets the garage. Then again, it is German reliability up against the Dagenham Dustbin!! LOL

Tell him that you will pay the insurance difference between him keeping his car in the garage and on the drive. It is sure to be a hell of a lot less than keeping the cossie on the drive.
Might work.

<Astraboy, sorry to hear you couldnt get a YTS position, we have a similar opening at our place if it helps ?>
Sorry to say lads, but I am already gainfully employed, and in profession which will go unmentioned but those who REALLY know me know what I do. They will all keep quiet about it though. One thing for sure, YTS it certainally aint.
astraboy.
P.S. Cheers mark, I might give that one a go.

Just ask him which he would rather the neighbours see a 10year+ saff or a new Audi
also if he needs to use the Audi you will need to move the saff everytime!! thats gotta be a pain!
get him to build a double garage!!

Its much better than that its a very mint and clean 3 door cossie not a saphire and no room for a double garage from what I remember.

Yeah I will keep quiet about your job mate Are you still in cyprus? when do you get back? Thats a good idea about the insurance thing and you may also want to tell him about people breaking in to get the keys? but that may just scare the **** out of him

I am back on Saturday mate, this is from a computer I can nick from time to time.
Thats a good idea though. I will put the fear of god into him about pikeys wanting a bank job getaway car and busting into the house. If that dont work the only option is discussing it over a nice game of baseball.

Astraboy, glad you took that in the spirit it was intended, there are a few on here that are lacking in the humour department, now I want to know what you do,
International man of mystery, why are you "Astraboy" if you have a Cossie ?

I was in the same situation!
Helps to get mum on side!
I also did the "It's a much more modern car with up to date rust proofing type thing that was designed to cope much better being left outside.... etc. etc."
Oh and I *said* my roof leaks...
My old 911 cab is in the garage, Dads brand new 45mile 406 is on the drive!

Look at the profile mate. I am *gainfully employed* and yes it is legal
I prefer to keep myself to myself when it comes to employment.
My old man is coming back in October so I have a few months to go yet. I hit him with quite a good bombshell in " I refuse to put such a rare car at risk. If you kick the car out I will have to sell it" he didnt really have an answer to that one so I might have him on the ropes, so to speak.
Cheers for the advice chaps.
