They are anything but a hairdressers car. That is the great unwashed and ill-informed opinion of them.
Great engine but needs to be revved. I had a supercharger on mine, running around 350bhp. Lots of fun. Civic running costs. Great reliability.
Good time to buy although you may have problems using it if we have lots of snow again. It was my daily driver and I used it everyday, apart from the heavy snow of course.
I had a NA standard one beforehand. Lovely cars even in standard trim.
Go and test drive one!
Nick.

hi rob ive got one and its a great little car.had a couple of mx5's aswell and they were a hoot but the s2000 has that extra poke and im a big fan of the vtec's.really is fun to drive but can be twitchy in the wet.'id deffinatly reccommend one if your thinking of getting one.i'd love to keep it but ive always had a thing for scoobs so looking to finally join you lot soon.oh and theres the occasional times where the small boot can be a bit of a pain but overall its a really great car to own.

I got 2 mates that work for Honda and both said il find it slow compared to my scoob but I just love them sound like fun. How hard is it to supercharge how much it cost? Was it still reliable ect ? I left Subaru at x mas got skyline and hated it and went straight to a type r scoob what a car I love it so much fun. But I feel the need for a s2k but I dunno wait till after snow maybe lol

Would love one as a second car, have been looking at mx5s but S2000's can be had for c.£3-3.5k now which isnt bad for what they are.
Would have loved to have snapped this up as a track car project..

What is your Type-R running bhp wise?
The S2000 lacks the 'punch' that the scoob has. I went from a c. 300bhp version II STi to my NA S2000. It didn't 'feel' as fast but i know it was. It's a totally different power delivery than the scoob. Just because it doesn't 'feel' as fast, doesn't mean it isn't as fast.
SCing your S2000 is expensive but worth every penny. Stage 2 kits will produce well over 400bhp. Remember a scoob will have more tranny losses due to 4WD.
Reliability wasn't an issue. I had to replace 2 bearings in one of the pulleys. That was about 20 quid. That really was everything I spent on the car apart from fuel, tax, insurance and servicing. Like I said, Civic running costs. 9k mile service intervals!
Look at the TTS website for info on SCing.

I had 315bhp STI-5 after the S2000 and it was even faster than my UK car but still not that much quicker than the S2000. It was, of course, actually faster (no illusions here 315bhp vs 240) and felt much faster but the delivery in the S2000 is soooo different.
I'll say this, when I had my S2000 I missed the trust of my scoobies. When I had my 2nd scooby I missed the reach and response of my S2000. Unless you are rich....you can't win

Don't forget that the S2000 has one of the best gearboxes from any car - sublime!
Get yourself over to the UK section of S2ki forums. Some good info and buyers guides.

Yeah, handle power really easily. There was a guy running 612 wheel HP on a stock engine block and stock tranny. Did many Dyno runs with no problems at all. His username was 'phils2k' over on the S2Ki forums if you want to search any posts.
Gearboxes are just so precise and a very short throw for an out of the factory boxe. Lovely weight to the throw as well.
With a SC you should really upgrade the clutch unless it's pretty new. That's all really. Everything else can handle the power easily. Engine is forged from Honda.
Have a look at this threads -

Put ALS on them and you have the best of both worlds!!
Here's a SC build thread. This guy went from a small Greddy turbo to a Rotrex SC setup -
http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/831510-razzs-money-pit/
A guy called Mase in the US who posts on the S2Ki owns a tuning company produces a turbo kit for about 4K. 500 hp straight out of the box. He visits a few times a year as he is seen as the guru of tuning the S2K. That's the guy who got phils car up to 600+ wbhp.

I had an SC and Turbo S2000, I am going to sell it after 10 years.
Turbo has more torque than SC, go to s2ki.com subforum for UK
http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/forum/25-uk-s2000-community/
there is a tuner, Maese, who flys a lot to UK from US to tune S2000.
GReddy kit is a safe kit, but uses greddy emanage, which is a piggybag, is very conservative. many switch the emanage for the AEM, standalone.
There are better turbo kits, Asura design, but more expensive. inlinepro is another choice.
SC is more plug and play, like comptech, but has 40% less torque at low revs than a turbo.
Avoid ultimate racing turbo.
PM if you have more questions
BTW Greettings from Spain this is my first post

Thanks Mate!!!
Yes is a big change from a s2000 to a STI, different drivings styles. I will miss it, but I need a 4 door car and the STI is the best option!
On a stock engine at 7 psi max I got 400 HP.
Turbo kits are a bit more expensive than SC, but expect around $5000 depending on electronics

InLinePro turbo kits do not fit uk cars. They foul the steering rack iirc.
My sc S2000 made 286 whp. Equates to about 335-350 flywheel.
Turbo does produce more torque but changes the driving experience totally. With the SC setup you keep the VTEC kick and it keeps the natural characteristics of the F20 engine.
I'd love another S2000. Would have to be 400+ bhp though after the 350 bhp one, never go back to the same model but lesser power!!
I only sold mine to fund a house move!

My best mate has one and i'm always driving it when we are together, i love it if only i could have a 2 seater,he's got no kids so no worries.
and they are pretty quick for an na car, get one you won't regret it, and thats from a fellow type r owner, just the power band is a bit further up the rev range, but they don't half drift well, very predictable and controllable out of the box, not like a type r that needs to be set up right and in the wet to do what the s2000 does in the dry, but be carefull in the wet.

Not rapid cars but that 6-9kpm is addictive
One in pistonheads recently with a Nissan turbo unit in for 8k
but that defeats the object of having one for me
There are a few sites for the S2000 but here is a newish UK Honda S2000 forum
