S54 from a scooby??? -would you?
Been considering a change from the scoob (It would free up some much needed money aswell!)
Does any one have any experience with the S54?? Issues/costs/daily drive? 'good' change from a scoob??
Any thoughts appreciated...

According to wikipedia, S54 may refer to :
1. S54 (Long Island bus)
2. S54 (New York City bus) desserving Staten Island
3. BMW S54, a high performance version of the M54 straight-6 engine
4. a Toyota S transmission model
5. Sukhoi S-54, a single-engined trainer derivative of the Su-27 aircraft proposed as by Sukhoi
Assuming it is the BMW, I once drove an M3 with this engine, decided it felt like a shortened 7 series, and bought a Subaru.

We have bought one albeit the S50 version...
It has race cats,an Eisenmann and has been mapped and derestricted.
339.1 bhp on the rollers at Pro tec...
The handling is sublime, very neutral until pushed then will go into lovely controllable oversteer.
The handling isnt "safe" like a scoob. You do need to know what your doing if you going to push the car past 90% of its ability, like any powerful RWD car it can bite if pushed to aggressively.Especially in the wet,it will easily break traction in 3rd gear under power so you need to understand whats going on underneath you..They are a hoot to drive though, will do 100 mph + in 3rd gear and around 170mph speedo indicated.
That said, its an absolute pussycat that you can toddle about. My missus is 5ft 3" and she drives it everyday to work and she loves the car with a passion.
We have had many cars inc Scoobs,996,skylines,M3's,5 series,7 series and this has to be up there as one of the best allrounders..My other half adores it and wants to keep it forever..lol..
Downsides...
They can go wrong, with even the newest ones bein 10 years old or so they do have issues..
Go on http://www.z3mcoupe.com/index.html for superb info and support.
Parts arent cheap as many of them are bespoke to the car,not a lot swaps over from M3's etc. A case in point,i needed some tailgate struts as they were worn out. £135 from the dealers... Luckily i went on the forum and SGS engineering did me a set for £45 delivered...Happy days...
If you do get one,be prepared for people asking what it is on a daily basis.Enthusiasts love the car and it draws attention wherever it goes. At the last count there is only around 450 now registered in the UK,so you would be in a fairly exclusive club. The prices are still failrly good, and will probably remain so for the foreseable future.
Here is mine as i bought it..
