Test drove one once, was a toss up between that and the Corsa VXR. The Clio was a much more involving drive, and as said above, is nice with the Recaros.

Breaks were a bit ****e though, thought they'd be better being Brembo 4 pots and a small car - may have been crap pads though I suppose.

thanks for that info. Ive had a clio 172 cup and i was getting 36 mpg which was great as it was a very fun car to drive. Autotrader say the clio 197 does 33.6 mpg with combined urban and extra urban driving?

i have the 182 and my brother has just sold his white 197.the 197 is a lovely looking car but i would say power wise my 182 felt a little more responsive.tbh there isnt much between them both in all aspects apart from the 197 looks mega fat and mean with them big arches.both are really fun cars.

My son's friend has a 197. My son, who has a blob WRX, had a drive in the 197 and said that there was nothing below 5000 rpm. The lack of torque (around 160lb ft) meant that he was having to change down every time he wanted a bit of 'oomph' and the low gearing caused the engine to spin at 4.5k at around 80mph in top gear. A big come down from the WRX.

Try a search: the same question was asked about two months back and loads of answers were on that thread.

My eldest has a 56 plate 197, loves it.
I can't shake him offin my 400bhp Scoob..........and before anyone makes the usual crack about drivers, don't bother, I'm no boy racer.
