Default What does recovered mean on hpi check

Hi all my brother is looking at this car

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2005-VOLKSWAGE...item4aaad79a54

on the bottom of the desciption of it, it says it comes out as recovered on HPI check. Does this mean that the car has been stolen and recovered at some point?

Thanks

Probably stolen, the insurance paid out the customer & then it was found & therefore the insurance company's property to dispose of.

If its just come up on a HPI check then it means someone has bought it on HP and not kept up with the payments, so the company has re-posessed the car. You need to check there is no outstanding balance with the finance company

A repo shouldn't come up on HPI - only if the vehicle is still wanted it will show.
