Another good read of the 205 GTi
Still miss my old one even though it was a year ago I sold her...
Just reading Pistonheads and came across this for any fans of the car.

Classic cars. Had a couple years back.
I had an 88 1.9 when I was 19 (15 years ago, sheesh) was a bit of a dog as bought the cheqpest I could find. It never let me down though and was good until I started lowering it and added exhaust and induction!
I then had a completely std 1990 model 2 years later as a run around for work and to use instead of my cossie. I really loved that car, I favoured it over getting the cossie out and gave it death every day. It never missed a beat and i was genuinely sorry to get rid of it. I remember cutting down a tree in my front garden and filling my 205 with it (ie just enough room for me in the car) and taking it to the dump. It was a proper little work horse and very practical with the hatch, infact it's probably where my love of hatches came from.
The 1.9's really tickle along nicely, very crisp and instant as you touch the throttle. It used to really annoy me 'back in the day' when people would say the 1.6 was as good. The 1.9 felt much gruntier in the mid range. Basically made up by 1.6 owners who couldn't afford the proper one
