Just driven "our" new Westie :D

Rather Westfields, but same car. Apparently Hippy and I are the first non Westfield staff to drive one
All I can say is awesome.
Didn't really get enough time to have a proper play, but I can't actually relate it to any car I've ever driven - not road car anyway. Very progressive for a mid engined car.
Went in the Megabusa after, and although the performance is similar it was a lot softer.

was it at curborough craig?
if it was, forget it, that place you cant really get a feel for the car.
wait till you take it to a proper track!! Thats when you realise how fast it will be.
Still no news on mine sadly.

No JGM, i took on a Discovery at 60MPH in it and lost big style.
Trying hard to get it rebuilt right now, it would be tragic if it were written off. I should know by weekend, it's very touch and go as the rebuild cost is rather large.

Mega, sorry but I do wear a baseball cap in mine (when it rains) it's the only way of staying dry when it is chucking it down (unless you are one of those softies who puts the wet weather gear on )
Craig, glad to hear you are happy, just wait until the end of the first week, when you feel the need for more power

It was John - wish it was at Bedford so we coulda ad a real laff.......still - gave a little taster. Hope you get yours sorted - talking to the Westie guys - they seem v v fond of your car
Scott - not the same spec - just the std, boring 440hp per ton jobbie
One thing - may need ear plugs - Hayabusa induction roar is V loud when it's not far from your left ear
Lastly - orange is defo THE colour - was painted Mclaren orange - looked "quite" nice.

I say it at the weekend in the padock at Silverstone (not on the track, just as a static advert). It looked the dogs! Fortunately I was in a suitably scary but slow car (cross ply 130x100xR19 tyres anyone?), so didn't feel the need to beg a test drive. Can't wait to you get it sorted.

Yep, most of the guys at Westfield like my car a lot. Some of them say it's the best car they have ever built as an allround package, they mean it too.
I think if it's rebuilt they will have to help me out a bit re the deal with the insurance company. They would have to make a new chassis and body which they still have the jigs and moulds for (my car although it looks like a normal westie has a unique chassis and body as it was fully type aproved and crash tested), just a case of cost....
It was funny, when i rang Richard Smith at the factory to ask about if they could rebuild it he said he was just watching the lap of me and the R1 around the ring. He thought it was nuts.
I am OK, just a bit bashed about around the neck and shoulders etc.

I was actually at the Westfield factory on Saturday with my mate and we went to look at the XTR2, as he was seriously considering buiyng one.
Got taken round the factory and had all the blurb from one of the guys and even had a sit in the orange/grey XTR2, to "try it out for size". We were also invited to come along to a track day and drive an XTR2 so that should be fun!
After that, my mate got taken out in the purple Megabusa and when he got back all wind-swept, he said it was mentally fast. He actually prefers to "classic" look of the original Westfield cars and now he has gone and ordered a Megabird (special deal) and his EvoVI is up for sale.
[If you know anyone after an EvoVI let me know]
Should be going back to the factory again on Saturday to sort it all out and pick colours, options, etc...
Nice cars!

Simon,
I think he is advertising it at £18,500 but don't "quote" me on that.
Why?!
You tempted!!!
He is meant to be putting an advert on the "For Sale" section on here, so keep an eye out.

I got very close to ordering an XTR2 just before the Autosport show but didn't. I'm just waiting for them to test and develop them for a bit. I haven't driven one but if they handle like an Ultima they will be fantasic.
PS Our Ultima has passed the SVA and we pick it up on Friday.....Yipee

Bagsy a go!!!
I love the CanAm look, it's very apropriate to have the CanAm McLaren Orange on that car! It's just lacking the extra 8 litres but i'll let that one go.
Mine was the fastest Westie they have built when it had 220BHP. It was just a little more than that once i got my hands on it. I ordered a new hood frame before i stuffed it as mine was looking a bit 2nd hand. It arived yesterday, i forgot all about that. Hopefully i get to use it.
This is agony waiting for the answer on rebuilding the car, i have to look at it every morning and night when i go to work in my scoob, kind of depresing. Getting better by the day physically though, thankfully! Thanks for asking.

Got to admit, that car looks the bollocks! I can't believe they released this within days of me finishing my Megabusa (which is also orange)! Ah well, should be out for my first real blast in it this weekend, weather permitting. Fingers crossed.
