CLS 320 CDI
As above, I am considering getting a Mercedes CLS as an everyday car instead of having to use my Subaru everywhere, I will hopefully not be selling the Subaru .
Anyone have any good or bad experiences with the Diesel CLS?
It's supposed to give a good 40-ish MPG and produce around 260 BHP but its a big executive car.
All comments welcome.

I think it's more like 220bhp?
Should be good on fuel but be careful - my 335d is meant to be 40mpg - I've never got near that on a decent run.
CLSs look nice.

I was looking to do a personal higher from Mercedes Direct.
Car budget it around £20k
Deposit £5k
Works out to be around £250 a month for 36 months.
Anyone know if theres any better deals or a better way of doing this?
Hopefully sort the finances and can then go through with it.

Interesting. I was actually thinking it might be a cash purchase. Worth a look around as some dealers will move on this going on the feedback on MBclub.
Certainly has a good image and plenty of toys on the right car.

I've often felt drawn to Mercs as they can look good, have monster engines, refinement, ride quality, toys etc. I'm always put off by the horrendous stories and surveys about reliability, breakdowns, rust etc. Which is the opposite of how you should feel about a premium brand. Apparently the very latest models are somewhat of a rehabilitation, but it doesn't seem that they have done their depreciation yet to be a good buy.
Many (through bitter experience) suggest not running any expensive when new German car out of warranty these days. That is a huge shame.
I would expect a well looked after car these days to do 100000 miles with no more than friction materials and consumables. But some argue that many other items with four figures bills just break when they shouldn't and become consumables.
Over the years I've spied an SL55, a CL600 and a few E55K that took my fancy in the classifieds, but always held back doing anything about it for these reasons.

Lovely!
John makes a good point but I think issues affect all car firms... Vanos failure and Nakasil linings anyone? Toyota are a good example of how it can still go wrong today. MB did have rust issues with some late 90's cars but that seems to be taken car of now, I suspect you've got yourself some comfy motoring for a few years to come there.
