K series engines pop head gaskets more regularly than an MP lies and as I found out recently while finding someone to fix a friends K series you may find that many garages won't want to do them. The cost when you do is comparative with Scooby's.
Saying that another mate of mine has one and has had no problems whatsoever and loves it.

Isn't the K series engine about a 40 year old design?
Mind you its in the Elise isn't it (mki) do they have problems?
Don't think I'd risk it.But I can't talk,I bought a classic mini that spends its life being fixed

Go to www.mg-rover.org and speak with the owners on there to get some accurate reports on the engine, the head gaskets do go but rebuilt by someone who knows the engines well they can be sorted and trouble free.
