Default Citroen saxo brake problem

My girlfriends 2000 saxo has developed a strange intermittent braking problem. One minute the brakes are fine then if you hit a pot hole the brakes become spongy and un reactive and the hand brake comes right up. Then you hit another pot hole or bump in the road and hear a clunk and the brakes and handbrake are fine again Any ideas?

cheers kot

If its a vts model, the abs on them are complete pain in the **** when they take a knock or pothole etc. If its not a vts then i have no idea. Some vtr have them and the sensor is on rear torsion bar on drivers side. They often play up. Ove had several saxos but other than that cant say ive heard of that problem before. You do get some right random problems with them.

Most likely load compensating valve is sticking:

Its located somewhere on the rear torsion beam....Google came up with this (look at the diagram): http://www.saxosportsclub.com/Forums...c/t=37911.html

My old vts did it, not so much with the handbrake, dodgy abs sensor on the front, had to pump them a couple of times to get them bk to normal!
