BMW 1M Coupe (1 series M version) Officially Revealed !
Vid bmw posted this morning - http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=463218
Gonna be around 340hp with the M3's suspension and differential. If this thing is priced right they got a winner on their hands.
I predict legendary level of cult following (among the BMW crowd that is)

It looks incongruous from the rear - with the wide wheel arches and wheels on such a comparatively tall car.
Hopefully it will be a hoot to drive - the 1 series is a sweet little drive, especially sliding around in this snow. Nice rear wheel balance, not snappy. Just turn off the traction

They should have used the 2 door hatch, and ok the M version looks better than the standard coupe but even so, as Trout says its too short, you cant do a swoopy coupe in which people can fit without making it look a bit odd,
Sure its a fantastic car but the shape puts me in mind of,
When it should have started from this, which I think looks really good,

I'm so clad they didn't go the hatchback route.
The Hatchback look totally ****. Guy at work has one, and I hate looking at it.
The Coupe looks so much better.
As said above though. Just like the RS3, maybe this car has come too late in the production cycle. If the new A3 & 1 series is out next year, both 1M & RS3 will look dated very quickly.
Plus, doesn't the old Twin Turbo BMW 3 litre engine produce more than the indicated 300BHP anyway. So all you're getting with the 1M, is slightly better handling, for a lot more money?
Just a shame it wasn't out a couple years ago.

All Audi did was change the front & rear bumpers of an A3 sportsback, and stick the RS alloys on it.
BMW 1 - Audi 0.

Funny, but I'd rather have the BMW. It's cheeper. BMW have done something with the 1 series, flared wheel arches, wider track, suspension etc. At least they have made an effort.

Got to agree with Jacko - the hatch looks good IMO. The saloon looks pretty bad in my eyes. It looks too narrow and too tall. A wide arch hatch would have been the way to go - its the in thing

Surely the front runner will be the new Seat Arouser as that will be Porcine, and will have a speaker in the footwell to make a nice noise. Previous opinions on the cars, the lap times, acceleration, braking, A-B road performance won't matter as they didn't in this year's contest, just the noise

You have to laugh after the RS3 got a slating for being too expensive, at least that has some practicality. This is a similar price but has invoked the predictable want from the resident BMW fan boys.
Like the RS3, far too expensive when a 335i/S4/Used M3/Used Cayman/Used RS4 are less or similar money. I'm sure it will sell, but there is no VFM there for me.

Can't warm to the looks of the 1series, it just looks a bit top heavy!
The 1series has always felt like a car for those really desperate to climb the social ladder of acceptance. Still i'd have it over the RS3 everyday of the week.
