Default New 1 series M

Jees this is looking to be one good looking car. I was looking at getting an E90 M3 next year but this is looking very tempting.... My only hang up will be that it will be expensive and not as fast/powerful as the M3, unless fettled

I must say they have improved the looks of the 1 series immensely with that special wrap. Needs fixing down better in a couple of places though.

Anyway SIAL 10 months ago:

It's ginger.

It's a 1 series.

Does not compute with the words "good looking"

Nice wheels though.

they'll have to underpower it as it would be in direct competition with the m3 surely?!!?......

Nice wheels though.

You might be surprised Matt. Looks very purposeful with flared arches front and rear and new bootlid profile.

Agreed - very nice wheels

I could see this being a fantastic car. What it may lose to the M3 in straight line pace it could make up for in agility due to low weight.

Is this a 'full' M car like a M3, M5, M6 etc?

I can see this been a good car as well but I bet it wont end up with a proper mechanical LSD as otherwise too much competition to the M3.
If it has a modified 135i engine then I recon close to 400 bhp should be possible with a bit of tuning, remap + exhaust, should make a monster of a car.
Downside is I dont think any change from £40K.

Looks nice and I like the wheels.

I can see with it being called 1 Series M being shunned on the forums as it's not a proper M car

Also, if you get one are you always going to end up wondering whether you should have gone for the M3? A bit like if you get a WRX and then wishing you had for a WRX STi.

The car is called the 1 series M as BMW has already made the M1, which was many a moon ago.
This is the second "M" car that BMW has made which actually has a turbocharged engine, as opposed to all the other M variants that have been released over the years.
So yes, in the eyes of the hardcore M followers, it will take time for them (probably slating it in the meantime) before they accept it.
