Been 5 times round the world already too.

I've heard of the "statute" mile and the "nautical" mile, but how long is a "motorway" mile?

As far as I can work out it must only be 0.26 statute miles long, because 136,000 motorway miles apparently equates to 36,000 proper miles.

Does he mean it's spent most it's life stuck in stop-start first & second gear traffic jams on the M6 & M42 in the West Midlands? Not sure that's a good thing.

Wouldn't touch it with that many miles, would imagine it wouldn't be that easy to shift, plus it's got the stupidly expensive brakes on it which if your buying as it's cheap don't think you'd want the bill to replace

Never really seen the point in buying right into the bottom of a particular range. I would much rather spend £27k on an M5 - could probably pick up 30-40k miler 2006/7 for that and with 500bhp it would be faster too....albeit, different kind of car/experience. .....or, if you really want a 911 that bad, save longer IMHO.

Well, I do know a little bit about prices of 997s, as I am just in the process of selling mine. If you want it, its yours for £29k. Oh, and its got about 100k miles less than that and is a reasonable colour!

I would see what an OPC would offer for it... I reckon <20k...

That has been up for a while now.

For those discounting a C2S as being bottom of the range have you actually seen the perforamnce stats for these? LOL

Thats a lot of car for the money, I recently looked at a 996 Carrera 4 with 82k on the clock & it wasn't as clean as that & it was rusty.

To be fair I'd prefer a 996 Turbo, but £26k would be bottom end for one of those too.

Retail price according to CAP Black book on a car with 80,000 miles is £24k. Less than £20k trade price

What a garage never mind an OPC offers you for your car is far removed from its retail price. I reckon I could market mine and probably sell it around £40-42k.

I reckon an OPC 'might' offer £32k on a good day. Does that make my car only worth £32k - yes if I was daft enough to retail it to an OPC.

There is always a gap between trade and retail

As far as I can see there only two high mileage 997s on the market and they are both around the same price of £27k. Emotion buys at least a 10% uplift in any price

Good garage though - seem like nice people too.

Go past it a lot on my travels - always have a nose in there.
More interested in the F430

If its upto date and has good tyres they will offer about £7k off OPC screen prices. I know this, as the local OPC just bid on mine and they told me thats how they do it.

I'd be interested to hear how you came to that opinion

In my opinion the C4S is the better car

Plenty of people prefer the 2wd to the 4 as it is a rawer driving experience. the difference in price new is "only" 4k IIRC and there are many more 2's on the market which tells you something.

Wouldn't bother with a 4 unless it's got a couple of K24's bolted to it.

Only a tad, yes.
But it's all relative.

(although a lot of people find insurance for a C4S is more than the turbo )

You are correct about the raw driving experience and having owned a Boxster we have already experienced this but we would rather have 4WD for the added safety when it's wet/snowing.

Plus you get a nice wide rear on the C4S

For the same money we could have had a GT3 but that's not what we were looking for.
