Looking to buy a Clio
Been doing a bit of research into buying one, there are PH1's, PH2's, 182 cups and 182 FF..........
The car will be getting used as a weekend car and sprint/trackdays.
What model should i be looking for

I had a 172 Phase 2 for 3 years and never had a problem with it. I found it to reliable and fun contrary to most opinions of French cars on here.
I would be looking at the 182 with cup pack.

Totally depends on your budget. Obivously the cup and the trophy are more track suited but they aren't a whole lot different to the normal versions.
I think the Phase 1 172 is lighter than all the other versions and obviously is pretty cheap to buy these days.

172 cup all day long. had one brand new and they are great cars, slap on some h&r coilovers, full decat, itg maxogen filter, get the inlets matched and then get it mapped, very quick car.

there are better cars out there for track fun, thats coming from someone who uses a phase 2 clio 172 as a daily driver.
i love the car, it goes round bends like nothing else ive driven, its pretty quick, but it falls apart for no reason at all, mine has been a nightmare for the 6 motnhs ive had it, 2 rads, 1 thermostat, exhaust etc etc, the front drivers side inner arch liner fell out, then the passenger side did the same. bits of trim inside the car fall off for no reason, the drivers window falls off the runners and rattles when it ison teh runners, etc etc.
ya can get a cheap scoob and it will be 10 x more reliable and better built and more fun.

I have a Trophy, fantastic car. But as it will be a weekend/trackday car, I'd go for PH1 172 with the aluminum bonnet and then spend the rest of the money making it go faster.
