350z vs wrx vs sti - help choosing next car guys
Hey guys ,
recently sold my rx8 which i only had 4 months - didnt get on with it
thinking of getting a 350z or impreza , any ex 350z owners on here ?
im worried the 350z wont FEEL quick due to its linear power delivery i.e no shove similar to the rx
hawkeye wrx are cheap now and around £9k was thinking of getting a 07 version then getting a remap upgrade
or just go for sti £12k ish
just wondering if the sti is worth the extra premium ?

if you get a wrx you'll get 'sti envy' every time you pass one
my advice, to get the most for your money is to buy a JDM STI. we are short changed in the UK and get an inferior product compared to the Japs.
With 12K to spend, if you want the ultimate subaru weapon, buy a 2005 Spec C, or even 2003/2004.

yeah your probably right about the sti, head says wrx with remap cheaper than sti
heart says sti as i know it will be rapid , still a toss up between the 350z because i love the looks
just worried im going to be dissapointed with performance
are the sti's brutally quick ?!!!!

a JDM STI (newage/blobeye 2003 -2005) with a remap for UK fuel with no other changes will make 300bhp, maybe a little more. add an exhaust package and air filter change and get another 40 on top of that. Yes - that will b a very rapid car that will scare the **** out out any passenger and any porsches on the road if you are silly enough to drive like a looney on public roads. I have 2003 Spec C with the above and was remapped by Bob Rawle and made 353/385 on the road. I've been to Castle combe and a local test curcuit near where i live and other drivers and instructors have commented on how quick it is.

it is amazing how many people buy UK turbos, and UK WRX's and then spend thousands on them trying to mkae them into JDM STI's. To be honest i did it with UK MY1999 - Have now learned my lesson

Then again, I've owned a 2004 WRX since new. Never once have I had STi envy I suppose it depends on what sort of motoring you want
* I did put new zaust on and have it remapped, but then I always planned to do that

have had a go in my mates 350, is a quick car but didn't feel as fast as my 300bhp (at the time) classic, does have a very linear power delivery and is also quite a large car to hustle about, guess this all dulled the speed a bit for me, very nice cars though......

I have been using my mates 54reg 350z, the 280bhp version on weekly basis for the past 3 years. I can tell you compare to a scooby. This isn't a quick car. And it does about 18mpg average. Not too comfy either loud exhaust in standard form. Take a look at it under my profile in the gallary.

Do you need 4 seats?
If not, get the 350Z.
One of my biggest car regrets was buying a 4 seat, 4 door saloon when there was only my wife and I. I wish I had bought an S2000 or an mx-5.

I sold my 350zST import & bought a Litchfield Hawkeye Spec C, best move I ever made in terms of cars. The 350z was a godd solid car, owned it for almosr 2 years of fault free driving & cheap maintenance costs. Great car on the motorways & also good fun on the twisties & track. Looks awesome & a great all round package. Only drawbacks for me was 2 seats only, not very good at all on fuel consumption, my Spec C did better!
And the nail in the coffin was ultimate power & performance, of which I needed more. If you are looking for raw power then really nothing comes close to a turbo charged car, especially an Impreza, for the money. But if your happy with the kind of power the 350z offers & dont feel the need for any more then the 350z is an excellent choice IMO.

Hey guys ,
recently sold my rx8 which i only had 4 months - didnt get on with it
thinking of getting a 350z or impreza , any ex 350z owners on here ?
im worried the 350z wont FEEL quick due to its linear power delivery i.e no shove similar to the rx
hawkeye wrx are cheap now and around £9k was thinking of getting a 07 version then getting a remap upgrade
or just go for sti £12k ish
just wondering if the sti is worth the extra premium ?

The 370Z is the faster car, but it doesn't feel it. The Impreza felt quicker up to 80mph because of the Turbo thump in the back.
The Nissan doesn't feel that it accelerates as quickly as the impreza did up to 80mph, but it is. Over 80mph and the Nissan really starts to pull strong. 4th gear is very impressive to get past most things a road speeds.
In the dry, you won't feel you miss AWD, as it does grip very well. And there is Traction control to keep things in check. Due to it's low ride height and low centre of gravity, it corners very well, hiding it weight better than the Impreza did.
The car feels more special, both inside and out. Plus lots of people look at the Nissan in a nice way, rather than thinking you're a Chav like they do when driving an impreza about.
I'd say go for the 350Z.
