Question Evo X Extreme

Looking for an Evo X (or a low miles very well sorted IX) to replace a Spec C over the next couple of months. Is this worth splashing out on, or has anyone here driven one:
http://www.xtreme-uk.net/performance...ail.asp?ID=134

Hard core alternative might be this:
http://www.jrm-group.com/pdf/evo_x_t...ars_advert.pdf
and get any additional work done to allow regular on road use and reasonable comfort.

Grateful for any informed opinions, without going over to the MLR at this stage. Thanks.

extreams were always light weight high powered version, so not sure why they would weight it down with a big stereo etc etc, if you want the extra go then perosnaly i'd buy a standard 360 and mod it.

I've always hankered after a Xtreme Evo ... lightweight with big power was / is their formula. V rare too as I've only ever seen one Xtreme on the road + it looked

Evo IX GT also worth a look:

That is mental and only £33k (though I'm sure you'd get it for nearer £30k). Bargain

That was my impression, although a pity it is not based on the RS version.

My mum and dad are well into their 70s and if they ever got in a car with me (unlikely) would gladly watch me speed past a Toby carve place.

Very nice - how are you finding it?

The Evo IX FQ360 test drive I had left a deep and very positive impression.

Must admit that everything since the EVO VI Tommy M rather left me cold.
Then I saw an EVO X in the flesh and I became an instant fan again.......just looks right.
I would go for either of those.
Look forward to your impressions from the test drive at least

Mattee it is a superb all rounder and one of the best out of the box car's you will find. The DBW throttle takes a little getting used to but is a very minor issue and can be improved with mapping.

It also has a thirst for v power due to running quite rich on the standard map, looking to get it mapped pretty soon and release a few more horses

It is around the £30K mark tops for me.
If I had £51K to spend I would: a) buy a Porker. b) Have to lie like a politician to the wife on the understanding that my guilty secret would eventually be rumbled. That is why the extreme evo X mod deal looks really good value.

Came across this one:

A good bit older than I am after (& priced at least £3-4K too high for its age) but nice looking car.

OK; thanks for the advice because I have only driven one (mates Evo VI Tommi Mak a good few years ago). Evo IX MR360 seems to get some really good feedback. Which out of the box Evo model would you recommend that gives as much if not more grin factor than a Spec C?

Its a bad quality saloon too, the interior plastics are rubbish, the metal that the thing is made of sounds like a tin can when you tap it, sound proofing is non existant, rattles are everywhere after 30,000 miles and the way the windows close and open - feels like you are in a robin. I know its not the most important thing in a car like that, but it just leaves a bad impression.

Scooby's build quality is far ahead.

didnt take the enthusiasts long did it
well the evo is a better car than an impreza will ever be its been proven yes the power delivery in a scoob is smoother making it better for day to day driving but the evo is the one that will put a smile on your face as a standard model they handle better acceleration is better and they have always been the better car and of course there more desirable as certain people cant afford them. to all tha are gonna jump on me for this slander lol look at the facts and figures before commenting it makes good reading if you likie evo's not so good for us scooby owners

I have had my 360 x for about 5 months now and still love it.

Don't get the sst If you want to mod as they not as easy as manual to get power safely.

If you can find a manual 300 which will be your cheapest option, then a decat, turbo elbow and remap will see you with approx 400/400. No need to buy the overpriced 400 x this way.

Bizarre? So you work at a Mitsi Dealer and drive an Impreza?

IMO Mitsi have left Subaru for dead in the last few years.

Impreza - horrendous looking "hatch" with cr4p steering
Evo IX and X - great looking and VERY quick.

A guy I know has just bought a Focus RS... £350 insurance.

But whilst looking he went in to the Mitsi dealers and looked at a £38K car, and was offered it for £28K

But the insurance would have been £1400+ a year...

dunx

P.S. I think they look great, very menacing...
