Default Shogun 3.2 D-ID Warrior

Thinking about getting one...

Anyone got one?

My spec that I require is Diesel, auto, 4 seats, 4x4 and about £10k.

Quite a few 2002-2004 cars around at this price and they look good, seem to get reasonable reviews etc.

Anyone car to comment

Great trucks. Im a true fan and will eventually get one once my current 2.8pajero dies.

These engines are better than the 2.8's, more mpg, quieter and smoother. A good website to go to is The Mitsubishi Pajero Owners Club® :: Index

High mileage ones do suffer similar issues to the 2.8, aka head gaskets / cracked heads, so keep refreshing the coolant and back washing the rads.

I will probably go for the later model, diamond option one, 56/57 plates go for £17K.

Lovely trucks !

Im not 100% sure, but I think its to do with heat. Some imports have the EGR blanked off ( I have ) and there's a suggestion that this causes higher temps in the cylinder chamber. Others suggest its the poor coolant used and rads that block up. Some reckon the head design is poor. So, loads of possible causes but nothing 100%.

I had to replace the head on my 2.8, and did the fuel pump seals. Every service now I replace the coolant, flush the systems, back wash the rad, just incase. L200 diesels also suffer from head issues, so its seem to be a common thing through the mitsubish engine range, so perhaps its a design weakness.

Ive got a friend who has a 3.2 did and he had issues with the 4x4 lever which is now electronic, where my one is good mechanical connections. His one is now on about 90K and I have warned him to flush the cooling system but he's ignored me, so will see what happens :-)

On the whole, when Ive read up about the 3.2 and the problems with the head, there's a sort of common mileage of around 60-80K. So, if u do buy one ask if the head has been swapped or has it had a new HG. Once you;ve got one, flush the cooling system, backwash the rad, change the thermostat out of safety.

A good parts company that most pajero owners use is Milners. I get all my parts / filters there.

Cheers dude, thats great info.

Might be worth drilling a few small holes in the thermostat to allow some leakage? Its an old trick but it does work, esp if its a very high temp thermostat as it can cause thermal shock when it opens and lets 90c water pass.

I wonder if there is space to fit a slightly bigger rad too...

i work for a mitsy dealer in parts so i can give you a discount on parts and tbh i havent seen a 3.2 with a head problem maybe the problem ones are the ones that dont take theres to dealers and dont stick to the schedule the only issues weve seen are with bushes and brakes thats really it

From what I have seen the 3.2's are good cars with better engines than the 2.5's, I would stay away from the Shogun Sports (2.5 with a real crap fuel map out the factory)

My brother has 54 plate one with 40K on the clock and this is what happened to his

the 3 other injector seats / hotspots what ever you wish to call them were also cracked right through. Of course Mitsubishi have never heard of this happening before (even though cylinder head express have seen this a few times)

I agree with the above, a friend has a mitsubishi sport, the v6 model and that;s so juicey. The 2.5 diesel engines is awful, the 2.8 is better but try and go for the engine with the electronic fuel pump. My pajero is a 1996 / n model, but my brother has a 2.8 with the electronic pump and his is on a p plate. His is far better on fuel and is much faster.

The 3.2 is the one to aim for though, and I will definatley get one. If you get one, post up some pics.

Not a great deal, towards the bottom end of the 3.2 SWB market so 10k max.

I am just in the process of selling one of my cars, once thats gone I will have funds and start looking proper then.

I might try and pick one up at auction..

If I get one I will post pics.
