Default What next.....

Down to just one car at the moment (the family car) as I work away form home and hire a car to drive up and down to England. Looking for a weekend toy.

My list of previous cars is this:

Renault 21 Turbo
STi V1 Type RA
STi V3
Mondeo ST24
Evo 6 (modded:360bhp)
Golf Gti 16V Mark 2
Ferrari F355 GTS

I need something to come home to. My next proper car will be a Gallardo but that won't be until next year at least.
I don't really have a budget as such, but would like to keep it below the 5k mark for now.

I want something fun, nearly went to view a STi4 last week, but knew i would just buy it and I am thinking that I want something different.

A Mark 1 Golf GTi is a possibility, and if i could find a mint 21 turbo i would probaby have one of those for old times sake, but I think they all rusted away

Old/new don't really car, just looking for options

Now that is what I call a VERY broad set of requirements!

Gallardo, mk1 GTi, 21 turbo, etc!

Classic mk1 Escort Mexico, Audi Quattro Sport, Integrale Evo, Mitsi Evo IX FQ360?

not so much a set of requirements, more a list to give the flavour of my car history. There are a more than a few that I have left off the list (let's just say Rover 214 Convertible and leave it there )

This car will be a 5k ish budget, and really just something to play with on the weekends. Once the coffers have filled up again, it will be Gallardo time, but can't see that being until sometime next year.

Off to look at Lancia Deltas fort sale, but I fear my budget might kill this idea. i don't want a rust bucket.

The advantages of being IT Contractor Scum

Going to have look into the 205 with Mi16 conversion. Seem to well priced around the 2k mark.

Going to look at a Pug 205 SDTD with Mi16 conversion, full leather interior. Only thing I can think that will stop me buying it is the exhaust, whick looks a bit too boy racer and a bit too loud. I want fast, but not loud.

Pug

Rear crystal lights + front spoiler + twin pipes = ****e, the rest looks tidy.

Always fancied a mk1/mk2 Golf VR6 conversion myself.

Like me saying you like pugs so you like men.
So far fetched. The need to mention your getting a lambo is not necessary other than for people on hear to polish your ego and **** for you.
P.S go with the mx5.
You see 'Lambo' and automatically call me a troll. This is a performance car forum FFS.

Reality check, there are people in this world who work hard and make good money.

Adults should be able to mention expensive cars without childish interruptions.

The reason that I mentioned it is that I do not want to go and spend 20k-30k on a car now, I would rather wait a year and get a dream car. This is the reason that I am limiting my current budget to the 5k mark.

If I want people on here to polish my ego, I'll give you a shout.

Sorry Graeme, but you've shot wide of the mark with this one.

HailHail is on the level. Tragically lost his 355 (I loved that car btw!! )
He's been looking at Lambos for a while now.

OP - why not look at something like a drift-monster? Deffo something for the weekend.....

Porsche? Always liked the look of the 928 S2..... something different

You could get a very good GTi-6/Mi16/Turbo converted 205 for well within your budget. Very good for just fun and can drive everyday if necessary.

If I wasn't looking to get another Scoob eventually, I'd probably have started saving a little every month towards converting my 205 by now.

If you do want more info, pop onto forum.205gtidrivers.com and have a mooch around. No chavs on there and it's full of knowledgeable heads.

Sorry to hear about the 355 by the way, was a lovely looking car.

Have fun searching anywho

What happened to the 355? I had use of one for a while and it was fun but flimsy.

What you believe is entirely down to you. However, may I respectfully suggest that you do a search on the subject prior to posting crass comments about another user's misfortune?

And good luck with the R8 - very nice car

I do hope the funds for the R8 aren't earned doing any job involving writing.

This happened to the 355, walked away, so not too flimsy
Still got the plate if anyone fancies it, bit contrived for my taste, but came with the car.

Gallardo is 4wd so hopefull a bit easier to handle. Should be down around 50k for a decent one next year.

Anyhoo back on topic, going to keep my eyes open for either a standard looking 205 Mi16 conversion or potentially a 2.0T/vr6 Mk1/Mk2 golf.
Waiting for some pics of a 21 Turbo that's up for grabs. Was the first car I ever bought and feeling a bit nostalgic
