Cool Ford Focus '52' water in footwell problem.

Daughter has a '52' Ford Focus , 3 door, and the carpet in the passenger side rear foot well is sopping wet. No obvious water trails , but it must be either the door seal or window seal , yes ? Any known problems with the Focus and water leaks that anyone knows of ? Taking the carpets out is the only answer but how easy is this ?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

JBL

Had the same problem on a pug, its down to the door seal, try cleaning around it, wiping it down a bit, you may eventually need to replace it but you can use some silicone stuff on there for now.
Also had a problem with a vauxhall omega where there was water in the passenger footwell, this may be one for you to check, it was a bit of a bad design really but go under the bonnet and ensure that the drainage holes are free of debris, vauxhall had a wonderful idea and put the air intake for the blowers below the water line, so it flooded and the water ran to the lowest point (rear passenger footwell).
Those 2 should keep you occupied for some time

Found this though I think they are refering to the pollen filter box, a new seal does the job (had that on a ford mondeo).

Seal was like 26 quid, not really expensive

It will be seal between scuttle panel at bottom of screen and screen itself.

If seal is damaged, water runs down onto pollen filter then straight through into footwell.

Very common problem, usually caused by someone changing pollen filter on a service and not resealing panel to screen as per procedure.

Get a 1m length of black butyl rubber seal from ford for a couple of quid and you have enough to seal the screen now and some left over incase it happens again.

I had the same problem with my RS.

Local dealer tried 5 times to fix the problem. Took it to another dealer to have a look at after I'd complained to Ford. Still couldn't fix it. Complained again. Car was collected at took to Ford specialist Dealer in Morcombe.

New screen, new seals, filters, and new carpets. 2 small carpark dents were taken out of the passenger door for me. Washed and valeted and returned.

Few months later got a call from Ford asking if I'd like a free service for all the trouble.

Common problem, but not always easily fixed.
