Pick up for upto 4k
I am looking to take one of my part time ventures full time, I cant stand working for people anymore its driving me crazy.
Due to this I am looking to get a pick up for upto 4k.
I will need diesel, 4 seats would be best, a bed cover for the back and something fairly comfortable as I will be doing a few long journeys.
What would you guys suggest? I was looking at the obvious L2000 etc. any wild cards? what do you drive? what should I avoid?
Thanks in advance
Tim.

Why do you want a pickup?? From what youve said you want from the vehicle, why not just get a regular 4wd, eg discovery, patrol, landcruiser or trooper?
I have a single cab Ford ranger (proper full size bed) which is a great vehicle for my requirements but if i wanted 4 seats, then id get a one of the vehicles i mentioned above.
The double cabs which you see so many of, seem pointless to me as there bed length is poor and so you get no benefit over an estate car or 4wd, which would also be a better drive in your price range.

Double cab for the kids/dogs etc. I drop the tailgate to get a bit of extra length when needed.

I did think about getting a T4 van but I will be moving large trees (planted) around form time to time and they need to be upright, Also I like the load height of pick ups, perfect for handballing stuff on and off.
I think I will have a crack at a ranger and see if it fits the bill.
