One for the 4x4 owners - winter tyre q
OK,
Just about to get hold of a new set of wheels and tyres for the Shogun and intend to refurb the current 16 inch wheels for winter use with set of suitable tyres.
So, looking for a tyre that will work in mud and particularly ice and deep snow (we measure it in feet up here ) but not be too compromised on dry asphalt.
Any recommendations from you guys to aid the search?

General Grabber AT2 or BF Goodridge AT's.
You can't go wrong.
I had the Grabbers on my last L200 which did a lot of off-roading and green laning in some deep snow and deep mud.
They are well priced and on road they behave very well.
You could get some mud terrains but they are very compromised on road.

ETA - the Grabbers actually have holes in the tread so you can add some ice spikes.

Khumo KL71's are an awesome tyre (not sure about the 16" rim)
and you cannot ignore these 265/75/16 COOPER DISCOVERER STT MTs

I use these on one of my trucks.
They are 235 75 15 Bronco Grizzly Claws, I use them for green laning, beach work, but mainly road use, they have shouldered self cleaning lugs, and 25mm of tread.
They are noisey but exactly what I want on a winters morning, or when driving off road or on the beach.
They are rated to 87 MPH which is enough for this truck.
They are cheap too @ £240 for four delivered.

Hi have grabber at2s on my pathy and they are good alround. had them on my defender before that and it never got stuck. good on dry roads and in really muddy/snow. only makes about 1-2mpgs difference to the economy and the noise is virtually un noticable.
