Which make & model have no haters ?.
From 4x4's to supercars, which you reckon is frowned upon & which is admired ?.Makes all the difference to who is driving them at the time of ownership ofcourse.My list is
Admired:
Bristol Brigend, Blenhiem etc.
All Morgans
Vanwall
AC Cobra, AC Ace
Jaguars ( apparently very polite drivers ), but do have the wiff of the London Gangster thing though shame
Triumph Spitfire & TR's except TR7 one of the ugliest on the road.
Austin Healey Frogeye, 100/6, 3000 etc
80's & 90's Aston Martin Vantages including limited editions
Ariel Atoms
All Lotus cars
Alfa Romeo 159
Dodge Charger, Challenger & Viper
Shelby Mustang GT500KR, 67 Shelby Cobra
Mk2 Escort BDA = working class hero
These are or were not cool:
Sales rep cars BM's, VW's, Audi's etc.
Footballers cars ( RR Phantoms, Escalades, 430 spiders etc )
Software mens runabouts = tit behind steering wheel
Nutters in L200's who almost sideswipe cars
Mafia scum in all black 4x4's & the rest of their favorite cars

Quite a serious question really. New Porsche = flash **** (unless it's me of course
) but old Porsche = global cool. I didn't get an Escort Cosworth because of the outrageous image (well, partly 
) but now I'd love one. And jumping ahead a bit, people have been known to spit on an M3, but give that 20 years and it's going to be a classic for sure.

Hmmm, not sure I completely agree - I dont like old shape beetles as they're too 'cool' and trendy. That also goes for those dreadful vw campers that are always driven by wanabe surfer dudes - gah
How about a 2CV? I'd probably hate it if I had to drive it, but I've never heard of or seen any hatred flung in their direction by others. Pity or laughter maybe, but no hatred

Old Beetles are utter cr4p. Slow, terrible handling, dangerous. A friends mum hit a tree in one at low speed and died - almost any other car and she would have been fine. The "cool" surfer image makes them even worse.
Disagree about Astons - while I like some of them, £100K+++ was/is a bit steep for a car with shoddy old Ford parts. The interiors of DB7s is genuinely shocking.

Agree with most of the rest of the list apart from the Alfa 159 - another overpriced Vauxhall in drag (like Saabs).
Also all Lotus - the Eclat, the Elite and the Europa were total turd.

Matteeboy, he was talking about image and whether a particular car offended anyone, not crashworthiness, performance, handling or whether it was any good.
Saabs, like I have, are generally fairly neutral, no great statement, usually driven fairly meekly, not too expensive to incite envy and most people arent aware its a poshed up Vectra.
A lot of people arent interested, they are just cars, some are noisy, some look expensive, some look cheap, some are red, some are blue, to some people they may as well be fridges or washers for all the interest they have, except for Range Rover Sports, even the non interested parties think you look a ****.

don't know about mk one escorts etc etc- I'm old enough to remember they were crap when new, as were mk 2's, mk 3's etc

Original Fiat 500 Abarth is very very cool as is the Jenson Interceptor, Porsche 356 (a posh Beetle but SO much better), any pre 1975 Ferrari and the BMW 2002.

Lotus Carlton, E34 Alpina B10 Bi turbo.I was going to mention the Lotus Cortina.Vauxhall Chevette HS & Lotus Sunbeam even if the Sunbeam rotted worse than a week old pear.
