Just ordered my first Porsche a '997.2 GT3'
Now I have to wait until next year to get it
Had enough of sinking money into Scoobs.... now I can sink even more money into Porsches ;-). I resisted the urge to go for the GT2 as I think I'd have just modded it..... and didnt want a second had one as they retain their value so well I thought I might as well get a new one
I test drove the Turbo a couple of years ago and it didnt seem fast enough for me - nice and comfy though
I know the GT3 will be good - I have enough of the older 996/997 GT3's keeping up with me through the twisty's and getting up to speed quicker due to the lag on my Turbo on trackdays
May put my car up for sale - but not until early next year...... maybe i'll get £50 for it :-)

Why do people bother posting crap like this. What if you didn't have the money? What if you didn't have the money to buy either? If Fangoria "had the money" he would probably buy a Pagani Zonda, or the Batmobile, or a Harrier Jump jet.
GT3 awesome car no matter how much money you have or don't have.
Even if you did "have the money" to buy an RS it would be a waste of £30k for the tiny performance increase you actually gain (if you were a professional driver).

I am on the verge of moving over to Porsche for good to, I like Subarus but I just lust over Porsches.
Mrs Winner and I might get a 996 911 or a boxster s to see how we get on with them, If we like them we might take the plunge at get a C4S. My classic scoob has cost me £1200 the last two months and it still doesnt drive, If I go on like this I might as well own a supercar.

I think that you will find that in the comics the majority of serious petrol heads would say that if they could only have one car it would the GT3. I have seen this written in Car Magazine, on DR and in evo.
And they don't seem to care which one, any GT3, although accepting that the 997.2 completely overcomes all the shortcomings of the 996 Mk I as well as adding the power and liveability to the 996 Mk II.
If I had the money I would also have a 997 Mk II; I will just have to stick with my 996 Mk II instead!!

Nice choice mate. I've never driven a GT3 but recently drove a 997 turbo and that was fantastic, very impressive indeed.
I wouldn't be able to sleep at night with excitement if I had a GT3 on order

Re the RS Version, I did ask Porsche about this but currently there is no information available at all
Not sure if I did have that option I would go for it, I can afford it just as I can afford a GT2 - so what I suppose, I want what is rated one of the best cars to drive on track and on the road! (it wouldnt be £30k premium, the old one had a £15k premium circa didnt it?) but dont see the point as you dont really seem to get any particular improvements for the money
I wont be opting for the Ceramic brakes either as I'll do a fair bit of Track days and they dont stand up too well to too much of this and the brakes should more than cope anyway with 380mm 6 Pots up front!.... (funnily I have Porsche 6 Pots on my Scoob anyway having upgraded from AP 4 pots....)
Colour will be Basalt Black (though It seems that Matt colours are back in Vogue - maybe... but I will ask for the Wheels to be painted Black as well) but you dont spec the options until you get a confirmed delivery date with Porsche GB. The timing of delivery will be dependent on how many people drop out/ or want to defer their delivery date, anytime between Jan and May next year I reckon, which is fine for me
I did look at the Gallardo Superleggera, non-E Gear but the reviews of it just arent good enough (I would have looked at one second hand) but the beauty of the Porsche is the servicing and parts dont fill you with dread - they are quite manageable
I also looked at the GTR35 but there are too many horror stories about this and I dont see how a 1740kg car will stand up to a fair bit of track use - kind of defies the laws of physics and it doesnt have the Kudos of the Porsche - I asked people at work who knew the 2 cars and everyone said... Porsche..... not JapCrap ;-)
Regarding holding values - it wont but it wont go off a cliff either...... I wont be doing too much mileage in it

Lol at the green eyed digs.
A 997 GT3 in black - yum yum.
I'd have to get one with back seatlets ("normal" Carrera or Turbo) - but that's unlikely so I can just stick to going "NICE" when I see one.
Please post a stupid amount of pics once it arrives!

If money were no object i'd but the RS just for the funky paint job. I'd be under no illusions that it's help me to exploit that final 1/10 of performance Lets face it, no one here is ever going to drive a GT3 at anywhere full potential and that's the point: Even at 7 or 8/10 it's still going to **** all over 99.9% of everything else on the road.
Even if you've read all the reviews and seen videos etc until you've driven one of these cars you just don't know how special they are.
I first drove a 996 MKI GT3 in 2000 when i had a MY2000 PPP Scoob and it was in a different world. Didn't drive another one until a mate bought one in 2007. I'd driven over 100 other performance cars in those 7 years including 30+ other Porsches, Astons and Ferrari's and the GT3 was still completely outstanding and a league above everything else....apart from a 73 RS 2.7.

Theres some fantastic 911's out there now and it seems they are becoming more value every time they tweak the range. The 997.2 Carrera S is going to be a great future 2nd hand buy IMO, just the the 996.2 GT3 is now

I am getting pretty excited for you.... I wouldnt be able to do anything but pace up and down waiting for it to arrive.
I am going "buying the Mrs a cottage so we can get a country kitchen and plant an orchard" shopping this weekend.... So this means she must owe me a Porsche shopping day !!!!!!!
I really want to bring the Porsche ownership forward, I feel like a kid.
What pack did you go for? And optional spec?
I have found a picture of what you dreams are like....
