Picked up an mr2 yesterday
Thought I'd have something cheap and fun for the summer and plumped for this little thing, quite a good drive. Not quite a Lotus Elise, but fun nonetheless. £3.5k for an 02 plate, a steal!

I used to have one before the scooby - fantastic car, miss the handling really, the car is so much fun to drive.
I would deaf get an anti-flex plate if you dont have a hardtop for it (or retro-fit a hard top, its very easy to do).
I notice your roof doesnt fold properly - half fold it down, there will be 2 straps inside the roof lining that have unpopped and need to be wrapped around the frame inside. it will remove the "ears" from the roof as it should fold flat, not have that large flap showing at the back.
MR2 Roadster Owners Club • Index page and search for "ears" will probably show you exactly how to fix it.

You can get aftermarket ones though, plenty of my old mates on the forums had them fitted.
Its the one thing the car really lacked was some more power. if i had that, i would never have got rid of it

Thanks for the tip Kris. It has 138 bhp and the engine is a 1.8. I've had an Elise before and this seems to be much more user friendly, the roof is 2 clips and it's much easier to get in and out of.
I'd describe the performance as nippy rather than fast though I've mainly bought the thing for my commute as they're supposed to be pretty good on fuel.

Good choice, had one new back on a W reg, makes you want to pop down the roof, drive to the countryside and have a drink in a cosy pub. Nice motor.
p.s. they dont like snow !

my mate has one its like a wee RC car with the stupid aerial stick out 10ft in the air though thats the only bad point i have other than its a girls car lol. na kiddin they're nippy enough and lost of rear end fun (oooh err). he's had his swap ends on him a few times though he doesnt drive like a muppet and they are by no means as leathal as the early 90's ones before they widened the track on the rear axle
