Default Volvo V70R i/c hole?

Hi, just wondered if anyone could help. I have a V70R that I've been having problems with, and it's been said there could be a boost leak.
I have just removed the intercooler(what a mare!), and it has a production hole in the base of one of the end tanks. Why would this be hear? I thought that you'd want it to be sealed. If i blow into the i/c, air comes out this hole. It's about 2mm in diameter.
Any thoughts?

Thanks.Mit

i wouldn't have thought that you want a hole in the end tanks of your IC, you will get a leak and loose boost surely? seal it up and see what happens

I've done a bit of research, and it's an oil drain hole. So it's meant to be there! Strange.

I have had several Volvo's including a V70R. I know the I/C pipe's and turbo pipe's often go brittle and begin to leak. IIRC they are cheap enough to replace and the car goes like stink afterwards!!

I had the car in so many bits yesterday, trying to remove the intercooler plus all associated pipework,(intercooler was a mare!) I'm amazed it went together so well! I didn't find a single crack or perished pipe, damn. I also removed the famous ETM, gave it a clean, and sealed it to the inlet properly, didn't look that well sealed. I've reset the ecu codes, and see how it goes, no codes yet!
