Fast in a straingt line, but with all that weight over the front end, it'll handle like a pig.

This was done in 1986 it started with one manual box and one auto but the auto would kick down at the wrong time ,it was then changed to two manual boxes and a supercharger.

There was a twin engined VW Scirrocco rally car that was used in the north of England in the late 1980s or thereabouts. The driver was Kim Mather, who also I believe owned or at least drove some old F1 cars in club events in UK.

They took the front end of another Scirrocco (inner wings, suspension, subframe, engine and gearbox) and somehow welded it into the back of the other car. IIRC, it had a 1600cc front engien and a 2000cc rear one, or something ,like that , to give a better power distribution. Dunnio how they sort the gear change out, but the thingg worked pretty well. On club level tarmac rallies in NW England it was almost unbeatable for a few years, especially on events on the old Aintree circuit.

Eventually the RACMSA banned it (and all twin engine cars) for rallying because they were a loophole that got around the MSA's maximum engine capacity rules.

Disappointed, I was looking to see how they'd managed to fit a W12 into a Lupo only to find a couple VR6's.
Not a bad effort though.

Twin engined cars aren't new are they. Good piece of work though. try zcars.org.uk for an interesting mini or two.

Didn't EVO drive a twin engined TT ( 2 Audi 1.8 Turbos ) at over 200mph on a German autobahn a few years ago?

As already been said, nothing new really.

Still mental though!
