Default Still Leaking Fabia

I posted a thread a couple of month ago asking about problems with a leaking 2005 Skoda Fabia. Since then the dealer agreed to go half on the costs of new seals and labour (just out of warranty). This has not improved the leak, its been back again and they are now saying its some bungs probably leaking from behind the dash area???

They are wanting aprox £400 for this repair, and i was after any ideas on this, a local garage has said they will look at it. But since they have never done this type of work (owner told me) i dont want to be hit with a large bill.

Do i bite the bullet and pay the main dealer but ask for a written guarantee that this will stop the leaking. Skoda UK and my local dealer have both been useless, and to be honnest i would not wish this on anyone.

Have you investigated this yourself? The reason I ask is because my inlaws had this on their old Fabia and it turned out to be the drain holes that were blocked up.

I had to remove the wipers and the plastic scuttle panel to get to it but as soon as I cleared the dirt & leaves from all of the drain holes it never leaked again. The main problem was the drain holes in a tray between the centre of the car and the nearside.

This quite common on a lot of the VAG range, also consider sunroof drain pipes that block and leak (they are just behind the A-post trims look like hose pipes), a couple more to look at are 1, the window regulator carriers that are sealed to the door, 2, body seam on the Hinge Pillar, (removal of front wings required) The last one is the most time consuming. If you have more info I will be able to help better.
Regards Dean.

Pollen filter often lets in water on VAG cars when the front reservoir drains gets blocked with leaves. Search for leaking footwell on passats, A4's etc you will find a load of solutions for VAG cars and leaks.

not as yet, but i think the leaking is worse on the nearside. A local mechanic friend has removed the bungs in floor to allow the large amount of water to escape. I shall print off some of these ideas for him to look at on friday (i dont have chance due to work).

Have you not checked Briskoda.net? Very helpful people.

£400 sounds incredibly steep to me for something that is probably simple (amazing how much water gets in though!)

Loads of stuff on this on the Seat Cupra site. Either the rear doors or the passenger foot well fills up. I think it's near the fuse box on the Leons but their are some good DIY fixes and tips there too.

It was the nearside on my inlaws one and it would fill the footwell Easy fixed though and all that needed replacing was the plastic panel that goes under the wipers because it split.

Let us know how you got on

They had it in the garage on Friday, the wife says that the guy cleared some muck and crap etc from underneath the wipers (drain holes i think). Going to see if that makes it better

That sounds like where I'm thinking about and it's a nice little well that traps quite a lot of water. Fingers crossed they have sorted it.
