Tyre recommendations for Mondeo...
.... The old boy has ripped through the std fit Continentals on his new shape Mondy which spends most of it's time on the motorway. I know it's a heavy car, but would you not expect more???
Anyway, what decent quality tyres will give him a few more miles? 235/40-18

Oh yeah 13k miles. In one respect that maybe ain't bad for such a large car but i once got in excess of 26k out of a set on my Scoob running 313/300 - and i drive faster than him, honest

Cheers for that
Unfortunately his hand has just been forced as he has to travel a fair way due to a family illness, so he's had to go for the only thing that the local tyre place has - Dunlop Sport SP9000

SP9000 seem quite soft, and in my experience did wear quicker than Conti Sport-Contact2. Not quite as good in the wet either IMO. But it is a cheaper tyre, so you pays your money. Managed about 12K with them on our old 528...Front AND Rear! Great in the dry though, and less road noise than the conti's.
I have Michelin Pilot Primacy HPs on the back of my BMW 325, with normal Pilot Primacys on the front and I'll be damned if I can wear the things out, nor break traction in the wet. I can't even get the DSC light to flash (which I could quite easily do with the old continentals - where the rears lasted 18K fronts lasted 25K), thats gutless slushy automatics for you. Good on tyres pants for power.
Mind, the Michelins cost a fair bit. So I should expect them to be good.
