New 7 series

Having seen all the press photos of the new 7, I thought it had to be about the ugliest thing on the planet, BUT... I saw and sat in one at my local BMW dealer this week, and I have to say in the flesh it is a whole world better. The front is still a bit awkward, but the rear end (which looked the worst feature on photos) is actually really well done. A lot more rounded than the photos dictate and give the rear of the car a muscular stance.
Over all the car is a leviathan and very imposing - 20" wheels help Very different to the S-Class, a lot younger interpretation.
Oh well - just wanted to tell someone

you'll not get any sympathy to that type of thinking on here, bit like shouting I'm gay at a Hells Angel convention. You're likely to get plenty of attention but not in the manner you expected . The philosophy here seems to be great cars kn0bend drivers, however I cannot agree with this broad brush approach Its like anything new(New Scoob possibly excepted... ) it takea while to get used to. Then only the true beauty shows through....

Friend was invited to drive the new 7 last week at Oulton park. He currently has an E55, 740, P1, has a new range rover on order. He is toying between the new 7 or an s-class to replace the 740.
He agreed with my comments upon seeing it the flesh, but after driving it said it was the best handling big car he's driven. Made the s-class seem numb and lifeless, and the E55 seem like a barge.
They let him take his P1 on track at the same time to show the performance of the 7, and there wasn't a great deal in it!! Not bad for a 2-tonne auto-gearboxed leviathan!
He said it needs the big wheels - even the 18" look a bit small the 20" set it off nicely. Luckily he can afford £500 per tyre come replacement!
