Default Nissan Primera

Anyone any experience of one of the run out cars 02 to 06? Wifes Almera needs replacing and the reliability, insignificant looks and low running costs appeal to me. She just wants something to get from A to B that holds rubbish, 3 kids and shoes, coats, papers etc. She doesn't want a driving experience.
Looking at a 1.8 petrol. Don't want a diesel as it doesn't do many miles. Wife would fill it with petrol anyway. She won't have a Ford, Honda, Vauxhall, Skoda. Just after experience of the Primera. Cheers

butt ugly, heavy, 2.2dci does rubbish mpg (40 if you are extremely well behaved).

dash is something of a novelty, reversing camera + satnav is great if you get a good spec one.

guess the 1.8 would be extremly sluggish as the car seems pretty heavy and has a crap steering lock - which your mrs will hate as it is a pain to park.

they are different and quite well put together but i would try (parking) before you buy.

Thumbs up

The newer Prmeras are crap and look crap too!! My dad has always had Nissans and still does (2000 1.6 petrol Primera), yep they are great and very reliable....they wont set the world alight but they will keep going!! If you are getting a Primera i would only buy up to 2002 coz after that they have Renault engines and we all know that means they are now CRAP

If you are looking a good, reliable 02-06 car, get a Toyota Avensis, great car and can be bought well worth the money

Great design, ultra relaible most have very good spec and you can pick up an 02 for £2500. Rear camera is great for womens who lets be honest usually struggle with parking. Another good option would be a C5, get an 02 with low miles for £2200 and it comes with fancy suspension sat nav computer etc. Not known for reliability but should be fine as a runaround.
