Cool Lister Le Mans for sale.

Hello, i found this for sale in a garage, in rural Sussex and is 20 minutes from Gatwick Airport. The colour is a bright red with cream leather, also fitted with the 5 speed manual gearbox and accompanied without traction control and a 546 bhp 7 litre V12 , torque is 580 Ibs ft.Price is £34,950."British supercar" them two words are rarly said together these days.

The music is great too, here is a video of another :

YouTube - Jaguar Lister V12 - Luiz Carlos Roque

The mileage of the red Lister is 3,442 miles, but isn't warrented. If a buyer decided to restore the bodywork and chassis, also rebuild the engine if need be then maybe not such a bad car, but as a guess would cost a fortune typical. Here it is

Nathan.
Edited the power & torque figures so they are now the true official numbers .

The closest I've got to having a Lister is a XJ-S with a replica skirt/valance kit

Still trying to figue out the 500bhp bit....I only have 290bhp, however there is a "to do" list that should help things a little.

Shark man why not take all the drivetrain, out of a smashed Lister Le mans and put that in yours. The 6.0ltr version perhaps (400 bhp at the rear wheels) is enough, if not find the 7 litre V12.There must be a specialist in broken Listers in some place.

I would so love to do that. As the "to do" lists entails me importing a custom gearbox, and antiroll bars from the USA (mainly for cost and package reasons), and making up my own inlet manifolds and codging together some form of mappable ignition and EFi system. Its going to cost close to £8K once I've thrown the suspension and much needed XJ-RS steering rack into the equation.

I think genuine "full bore" Listers are very very rare, so finding a suitable doner with a good drivetrain (that doesn't need a rebuild) is a like needle in a heystack. Alot of Lister conversion I have seen over the years just had a body kit/suspension and kept the drivetrain as standard, as that was an option teh factory did offer (I have a brochure and pricelist somewhere dating back from 1987 ).

The red one for sale is quite rare, the rear window conversion cost a fortune.

I guess with this 7.0ltr engine there is more scope for tuning maybe. Also can Nat21 tell me if that Lister uses carbs or fuel injection, hope it's carbs so i can listen to an all mechanical V12.

Nat would you say that these engines are tempremental or the complete opposite. If i could scrape the money together i think i would buy one, just for the noise alone.10 mpg is a scary figure and so is the engine, i don't give a s**t about mpg when buying a car like this anyway.I don't know if the second car i mentioned is still for sale.

Just found this one priced @ £40k, so between £28k-£40k is the going rate for these, it seems to be.Not to long ago they were fetching around £13k.I do know of a firm who tunes and races Jags near me, so maybe they could make parts and do the servicing and tuning for me, but i don't have £40k laying around in my account so kinda miffed really.

Yeah, but it does look like a bazzed up, aged XJS to the uninitiated, like a the Tickford Capri.

I get what you say Jacko, to other people this is an extensively modified XJS and not a supercar as they claim it to be.Saying that though this engine went into the Lister Storm road car, so the engine can't be as bad as some people say.The money to put in for repairs would more than likly cost a fortune. As long as they are not kept outside they won't rust away.I have seen what was a dog of a Le Mans on youtube, so much rust and bad paintwork it needed a respray etc and bad areas of the panels were cut out.Cost the guy a fortune to repair apparently in the video and is quite nice after restoration. The guy also intercooled and supercharged it too.
