Ford TDCi repairs - North West
Hi, my 2003 Ford TDCi focus's turbo has given up the ghost today.
Anyone know of any decent and reputable garages in the North West (Merseyside preferable) who can change the turbo?
Thanks

all standard and 60,000miles on the clock.
The car's been loosing power for a while now, intermittently. Characteristically it will pull fine up to 3000 rpm then flatten off. Sometimes it would go to the red line though - very random.
Today it lost power on the motorway, couldn't get above 2000 rpm and was making an odd clattering noise.
Pulled over and called out the RAC.
RAC guys came out, inspected, started it up and loads of white smoke was coming out the back. He said that with the odd sound was most probably the Turbo stuffed up. He said it needed a tow home as it was drivable.
Oil level has also dropped by 50% on the dip stick reading.

My TDCi is doing the exact same thing but i`m putting it down to the MAF sensor being faulty.

well this problem's been going on for a few months now, becoming gradually more and more permanent to the point where something popped.
I pulled off the intercoller hosing in the past when trying to see if one of the pipes was split as this can sometimes cause this type of problem, to find loads of oil in there. Didn't think it was a problem at the time but looking back, could this have been an early sign that a seal had/was going somewhere allowing oil to get out?
Cost to repair is going to be around £800.
