Default Z-Cars R1 powered Mini

Won a raffle at my village school fayre today and part of the prize was a run in a Z-Cars R1 powered Mini.

This specific example is a superbly finished and executed item and is well worty of the shows that the owner plans to take it to.

I was only a passenger, but my overall impression was not of outright speed, but how it was quite a crazy little car that had my head going "it's a Mini", but my ears going "it's a bike".......strange sensation doing 12,000 rpm and lashing up throught the six speed box with no let-up in acceleration......wicked!!

I've been thinking of going for a bike powered car of some sort next year, and I think this little run has affirmed my thouhts.

Great little toy!!!

There's a nice write-up in PPC this month about one:
http://www.miniexvo.com/

Its done without cutting up the car too much, unlike other conversions.

only got to lug around an extra 600 kgs or so from what it was designed to do.

what about a bike powered bike, now there's a novel idea.

you'd think it would be quite a bit lighter with the R1 motor in, too. The A-series in the Mini is a heavy old lump of cast iron ...
