I went to Sainsbury's yesterday..........in a Mclaren SLR!
I was at Goodwood yesterday as a guest of Mercedes Benz, they were staging all week a PR track event with their fleet of AMG Merc's, 2 race Spec SLR's, 2 road going SLR's, a CLK63 Black and a host of C63 AMG's, and a V12 BiTurbo which I can't remember the name of!
Anyways I know the guy who organised the event so he said jump in to the dark blue SLR we're going to Sainsbury's in Chichester to fill her up!! All I can say is WOW, what a noise, they really do sound like Thunder and go like stink, it was really amusing sitting in it at the petrol station with people staring at you, some trying not too look others pointing open mouthed!
Also went out in a C63 6.3V8 which is a really usuable comfortable car, yet floor it and it just sounds fantastic the estate I really liked in black. Had a go in the CLK63 Black series, same 6.3V8 engine but with different exhaust and suspension set up, firmer ride but again sounds awesome.
And yes the SLR was going round the track on Sainsbury regular 95 unleaded!!!!, they all were except the 2 SLR's 722 which were running on the race teams own fuel.
A great day out, and if you live near Goodwood you may have seen a whole host of AMG Mercs going to and from Sainsburys petrol station...........they spent 1,000's there on fuel all week!!!!
